It's wisdom to buy during glut when there is money. A family close to me buy tomatoes and pepper for a year. We bought enough for 6 months.

Well, they have a large population of uneducated young people who are not afraid of manual labour, like farm work.

In the South meanwhile, your average university and polytechnic graduate is trekking all over town with a resumé looking for jobs in banks and oil companies.

That's the beautiful thing about the North that I love. They're technically feeding the nation with agricultural produce.

They produce it, so it makes sense that it's very cheap there.

Here in the South, with our so called fertile ground we don't product anything at an industrial scale like these folks. Last time, I bought roughly 7 seeds of not-so-big tomatoe size for #500.

For Misau, Bauchi tomatoes and pepper 500 go full that big black nylon. I dey buy 5 or 6 medium sometimes big size water melon for 1000. Cabbage, carrot e.t.c are very very cheap and plenty. How I wish I go relocate the market back to my place if I'm going back home.

If you see suya of 1k you go shout, dem dey even cut 8 or 9 big pieces of suya for you for 500.

they ain't feeding the nation we should stop saying this rubbish, plus if that's the price of those items up there in kano .then to me its still expensive...
Apart from tomatoes and onions ,bean and beef.what else do they bring from up there that we consume in the south exactly..the last time the stopped their goods from coming down south under buhari..when the commodities started spoiling and the economy up north started feeling it..made the south just switched to canned tomatoes, pepper, chicken...at that time the North knew they were not feeding Nigeria at all..it was just a ruse .

Most of Southern ppl meals are wheat..bread indomie, spaghetti, rice ...imported ,garri, fufu, yam ,amala, starch..that's cassava and yam..those are from the south not north all major fruits..are majorly from the south with honourable mention of benue ,kogi .

They are not feeding the nation
Take it back
If you don't know find out we produce a lot of food on industrial scale in the SW
E.G cashew and cocoa which are more important than tomatoes and which contribute a lot more to non oil foreign exchange
We produce Kolanuts, cassava, oranges, palm oil, fish chicken, yams plantains and fish .

Anyhow food production is business the producers sell and are paid
Stop using that word that they are feeding anyone

If we break up as a country we will trade and pay for what we buy just like we trade with Niger and Benin

They don't feed us

Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom are 2 of many countries that import food

They buy and others sell

No one is feeding anyone

Stop talking carelessly

Feeding is when you get SOMETHING FOR NOTHING

If I wash your car and you pay me
we did business
you did not feed me

the south feeds the north by giving them money every month

I am currently residing at yankaba and I dey jobless
Re: See The Current Prices Of Tomatoes And Pepper In Kano (pictures) by Imindmybusiness: 8:07pm On Feb 11
If you're good in math, you will easily know that the bag of tomato you see there can cost between 8k and 5million. If you doubt me, enter bus to Kano and find out.

There's way too much carbohydrates in the Southern diet.

On the other hand, with the presence of IITA and other research institutions who have distributed improved seedlings, the retail prices of these popular Southern Nigeria crops such as yams, cassava, plantains, locally grown rice, oil palm trees for palm oil, etc, and even peppers, tomatoes and all kinds of popular vegetables are sold at high prices because the insidious middle men and retailers just want to make quick profits due to greed. The improved varieties of seedlings (NOT GMOs) from research institutes such as IITA in Ibadan are meant to boost crop outputs and crash the price of crops.

Whoa! That's cheap compared to what I've seen in online videos and pictures being sold to folks in the South of Nigeria.

Yeah. I bought the bag of scotch bonnet for N11k from Dass LGA, paid waybill of N1k to Bauchi town.
There's definitely a bumper harvest over there.

Those of you in the far North should take these cheap prices of agro-commofities in your region for granted. In the Southern States, these are way expensive especially in the usual artificially expensive cities of Lagos, PH, etc, due to the rampant profiteering from insidious middle men who give all kinds of spurious reasons for selling at expensive rates.

Some people have taken it upon themselves to mention me and school me on how the North isn't feeding the nation. If we check, I'm more Southern than you guys. I call a spade a spade. Just as the South finances the nation with oil, the North feeds us.

Southern governors are not interested in agriculture.

In terms of food production north is trying. There was a reason Benue state adopted Food Basket of the Nation as slogan, though today terrorists has almost made that a history.
