Let's say a guy paid 500k for a medical procedure to be done to his mother in hospital

Unfortunately her mum slipped in coma and the procedure couldn't be done. They tried to resuscitate her but she gave up ghost.

Now the son is asking the hospital to refund 500k since the procedure wanst done.

Should the hospital refund the money??

The son paid 500k but early this morning today she is suppose to do the surgery.
She died 6am surgery was to be by 9am

He should try get maybe 300k refund and that is highly unlikely in Nigerian hospital to refund

This is not "the person didn't make it", since she didn't die on the operating table, but that the service was not delivered since the recipient didn't last long to receive the service.

I'd sue, because even if I don't get my money back, their defense cost would please me.

I'm sorry. You will spend more suing the hospital. So it's a frutile exercise. That refund will not change the fact that she is gone.

Im speaking as someone who has worked in private hospital. Refunds are very rare

Not only that they should refund the money but the cause of death must be investigated as it appears she was given an overdose of anaesthetic agents which sent her into coma and led to her death.

Autopsy must be carried out and if the hospital is found culpable in her death, appropriate punishment must be meted out to the doctor(s) involved. That's aside the refund of the 500k paid for the procedure.

Small private hospital. I have collected refund from LUTH, UBTH, and private hospitals and labs for services that weren't rendered. It's standard practice, no questions asked. Except they don't mind a scene at their premises.

The level of heartlessness in hospitals is becoming unbelievable. Someone just lost the mum and they want to extort him. Make una dey fear God
