MR OLAWALE QUADRI 🇳🇬 @QualityQuadry 🚨 DR Congo 🇨🇩 making moves ahead of FIFA verdict on February 16th The Congolese Football Association is allegedly doing everything within their powers to hand twist FIFA into rulling in their favour as the World Football Governing body meets on Monday February 16, to decide on the petition filed by the Nigeria football federation on the eligibility of six Congolese players in last year's FIFA 2026 Africa World Cup play-offs. Véron Mosengo-Omba, the General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) appointed in March 2021, is a Swiss-Congolese national born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He previously worked as the Chief Member Associations Officer at FIFA before taking the role of CAF’s General Secretary four years ago. He is also a close associate of FIFA president Gianni Infantino. According to very reliable sources, Omba and a few other top football executives from Congo and some Francophone countries are allegedly using their strong influence in FIFA to lobby for a favourable decision in this matter. They know the seriousness of the petition and are scared that FIFA could decide in favour of Nigeria based on leaked information and available evidence. FIFA on their part, is convinced that Nigeria has presented a very strong case and will not want to do anything that will rubbish their reputation, knowing that the Nigeria football federation and the Congolese FA, might want to proceed to the Court of Arbitration for Sports in Lucerne Switzerland, if decisions do not go in their favour. For that reason, they have taken time to carefully look at the matter before them and could take a decision at their next meeting on Monday, February 16. In September last year, CAF General Secretary, Mosengo-Omba was accused of having “repeatedly obtained bonuses” five times higher than the maximum allowed in his employment contract with the Confederation of African Football but was later cleared of any wrong doing after thorough investigation. His influence in Africa and World football will come handy for Congo as the Nation looks forward to Monday's ruling that could decide who picks Africa's sole ticket for next month's intercontinental play-off against the winner of Jamaica and New Caledonia. On their part, the Nigeria football federation and the National Sports commission are not losing any sleep on this matter. They are confident that they have done thorough investigation and provided the necessary documents and evidence to FIFA. They also believe that the recent FIFA verdict on Malaysia is a clear indication that the world football governing body does not joke with anything that has to do with players eligibility, especially when there are documented evidences of discrepancies and falsification. |

zicky:It's more a diss of Osimhen but regardless of the side, it should not be done. One can decry his playing in turkey without mocking him especially given the circumstances that necessitated his move to Turkey. He's Victor. He will win in the end. |

realpoacher:Nigeria not hosting goes beyond money. Kidnappers will have a field day kidnapping people. We cannot guarantee the security of players and fans. We were poor when we hosted Nigeria 99, Afcon 2000 and the tournament in 2010. Then we didn't have insecurity. |

Odunayaw:Motsepe neither brought Money (by that I mean significantly more than CAF used to have) or glamour to the AFCON. The craze for African football content is largely a result of it coinciding with the social media era. To be fair Motsepe isn't the culprit on the money issue, he's simply attempting to reposition CAF to the Hayatou days. When Isa Hayatou left as CAF President, he left millions of dollars in the bank and struck a $1B dollars deal that Ahmad cancelled and put CAF in a big financial hole. While Motsepe has surely helped the situation significantly, he hasn't done anything beyond the scale of what the Hayatou exco achieved some 10 years ago. |

Some Naija Performers across European Leagues - Friday (Feb 13) Aside Victor Osimhen's double assists🅰️🅰️ show for Galatasaray in their 5-1 demolition job yesterday, these are some of the other Naija lads who shone yesterday or did decently. Arierhi Kparobo scored again for Lillestrom SK in their 4-4 draw vs Stromsgodset in a club friendly. That makes it 4 goals from 2 games for Arierhi. He is on a similar path to Akor Adams' rise from Lillestrom as well and I pray his growth continues on the right path. Olarenwaju Kayode with a brace for Esenler Erokspor in the Turkish 1.Lig in a 3-1 win vs Manisa Kulubu to go top of the table and into one of the top 2 automatic promotion slots. He has 13 goals, 3 assists in 25 games (24 starts). John Otomewo, CM dropped another solid midfield showing for Hapoel Jerusalem in their 1-3 loss vs Hopoel Tel Aviv (3rd) in the Liga't Ha'al. He completed the most dribbles (5) in the match, won the most duels (15) in the match, and was the most fouled player (4x). His only dent was a foul committed which led to a penalty for Tel Aviv. He also created 1 chance. Chidozie Awaziem, LCB played all 90mins for Nantes recording 11 defensive contributions and the most accurate passes in the game (50) including 10 final third pass entries in their 3-1 loss away at AS Monaco in Ligue 1. Arthur Okonkwo, GK kept a cleansheet in Wrexham's 1-0 win vs Ipswich Town in the FA Cup 4th Round which qualified them to the FA Cup Round of 16. Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, CM came off the bench for Pisa on 57mins and impressed in the 33mins+ he featured recording 100% passing accuracy and 5 defensive contributions in their 1-2 loss vs AC Milan in Serie A. Rafiu Durosinmi was a late entrance on 90+2mins. |

Not keen on the whole court issues but the FIFA ruling, in an event it favours NGA, may involve Cameroon since those Congolese players featured against them as well. If Congo is penalized, then FIFA may need to call for a playoff btw NGA and CMR. |
