Yeah,this is the best way to go..zero emotional commitment but a reward of a home in exchange for their loyalty.

For me it was during this one campus protest in varsity, normally during our usual protests, I'd make sure to either position myself at the back, or in the middle of the crowd just so I can easily run for cover the moment the police start throwing their tear gas or firing rubber bullets at us.

That day I don't know what got to me that I positioned myself at the front, I don't know if I was high in the Economic Freedom Fighters Students Command's revolutionary songs or what, because those comrades could sing and their protests carried weight... ... One of the things that had me invested in campus politics was their revolutionary music...

The police positioned themselves and as they started firing rubber bullets and tear gas at us, we dispersed for cover and while I was still in the process of taking cover, I was shot twice, one on my thigh and the other on my butt, I felt the second one that hit my butt knocking out all my dreams and hopes of becoming a comrade, and as if that wasn't enough, a third one hit my back and it was a final nail in the coffin... Those things hurt, I spent the entire week sitting with only one butt cheek... That was my biggest mistake.

My father visited me that same week and when he asked what was wrong, I lied and told him that I tripped and fell while I was mopping my room, I had already promised him to stay away from campus politics...😂😂😂
