That's what I read on X (formerly known as Twitter)

I use to hear dat. But that is when intense conflicts start happening in the family, especially when the man is a woman-beater and a bully, in summary, when the man is not useful. The family of the woman can go recover the kids if there is any in such circumstances.
Some do take the woman along too.
