How will FIFA Rule? One key decision that FIFA will factor into their decision on the DR Congo case will be precedence. This is a novel case not just in football but in sports, and the cross board implication of this decision will be top priority in my opinion and not necessarily the merits or otherwise. If taking a decision in Nigeria's favour will like affect many other teams who are potentially guilty of the same thing DR Congo has been accused at the material time, then it is unlikely Nigeria will win. If just DR Congo is the culprit of this, and FIFA see the need to tighten their rules on eligibility in this regard, better be sure Nigeria will triumph tomorrow. |

Funny thing is the exact same scenario is currently playing out at the winter Olympics. Eileen Gu is an American, who decided to represent China in Skiing since she turned 15. Many Americans have been angry with her decision, particularly because America provided her the opportunity to horn her craft to become who she is, but more importantly because a recent leak showed she's financially benefited to the tune of over $50M from the Chinese government for decided to represent them. Since they obviously can punish her professionally because athletics generally have lax rule on eligibility (for context, Favour Ashe a Nigerian who has no ties just announced his decision to present Qatar from 2027, remember Favour Ofili did same), there's been a growing outcry to strip her of her American citizenship. While America allows for dual citizenship, China does not. China expects you to renounce any other citizenship before you can be recognised as Chinese by naturalization. Eileen has been asked repeatedly on how she can represent China while still being American and she's largely evaded these questions. Now Americans are putting their government under pressure to revoke her citizenship since being Chinese could only mean she renounced her American citizenship. (There are also rumours the Chinese government may have included a rule in 2020 to accommodate her but no clarity so far has been provided). |

FIFA and The Athletics rules are not the same! Nevertheless, I do not see the ruling going our way! Same way rumors came out that Davido won the Grammys. But we know who won eventually! lovewins: |

fabyom:I thought that was clear from my post. Athletic rules are very lax on eligibility, it's why I mentioned she can't be punished professionally. |
