All what they need to do is to go "self wire tapped" phone even if it wasn't tapped before and they will take it to court.
Whether the phone was truly hacked or not, the point remains that El Rufai really goofed and it shows that he is not really capable of being trusted with top level information.

Answer to your second paragraph. When it comes to national security, like espionage and Cybersecurity, a court can go ahead force them to produce the source under a special consideration.
