Latest Update 📌 The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa today (Thursday 19th of February), where he briefed him on the FIFA World Cup verdict involving Nigeria 🇳🇬 and DR Congo 🇨🇩. He disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had submitted a formal complaint to FIFA over alleged breaches of rules and regulations in the World Cup qualification process. “The relevant bodies in FIFA are dealing with it. We are confident we have a good case, but we have already put the World Cup behind us. Whatever happens, it is what it is,” he said. Dikko clarified that independent committees within FIFA would determine the outcome based on established regulations. He added that the matter is being handled by FIFA’s independent disciplinary and ethics committees, not the FIFA Executive Committee itself. He explained that Nigeria and the NFF had documented several breaches of FIFA rules and regulations even before the playoff matches and formally submitted the complaints to the world football governing body. “We discovered some breaches here and there. Even before we played the playoffs, we had noticed them, documented them, and submitted them to FIFA. So, both the NFF and ourselves submitted what we believed were breaches of the rules and regulations, which are part of the sport. It’s not about being sore losers; it’s simply what it is,” the NSC boss said. FIFA has releases annual report without reference to Nigeria’s petition against DR Congo |

BankyGee:At some point, on this hallowed chamber, Onyekuru was overwhelming adjudged to be more intelligent than Riyad Mahrez. On a serious note, that guy took Belgium by storm such that Everton immediately signed him bit couldn't use him because of EPL rules. In fact it was reported that PSG wanted to sign him. And he dazzled at Gala too. Unfortunately, don't know how, but he just fizzled out like that, similar to Ezekiel Imoh. I hope Orban doesn't go that route too. |

Raphael Onyedika's performance yesterday reiterated my analysis of his utility on the field of play. Raphael Onyedika will produce more value playing as a central midfielder and even as an attacking midfielder than he would as a defensive midfielder. Stankovic and Onyedika played a double pivot in midfield with Onyedika drifting into the more offensive areas and Stankovic trailing behind to provide cover. Raphael Onyedika's three shots were all on target. Raphael Onyedika possesses an excellent passing ability. His five long balls were all accurate, he created two chances, provided a switch of play that was essential to one the goals, assisted a goal, scored a goal etc. His shooting and passing ability will provide a good advantage if he is closer to the goalpost where wingers and center forwards will benefit from his excellent passes of the ball and where he will be closer to taking his shots at goal A player of his abilities shouldn't be wasted plying a much deeper role. |

Good thing we have friendly matches scheduled for next month against Jordan and Iran (2 world cup bound teams). I've learned to tame my hopes about this FIFA verdict a long time ago, hopefully NFF get their shit together and sort out their contract + increased wage demands from Chelle. |

SymphonyRad:Finally, someone who gets it—the world doesn’t revolve around Nigeria, and FIFA verdicts aren’t fairy tales. Preparing for friendlies instead of living on hope sounds a lot more realistic than arguing online about ‘deserved’ spots. |

TheCongo2:Whether Nigeria was expecting a verdict on the Congo case or not, friendly matches were always going to happen. Every national team does it. Those that have already qualified for the World Cup and even those that didn’t qualify at all are still arranging friendlies to stay competitive. So preparing matches isn’t some sign of “living on hope,” it’s basic football planning. And let’s be honest, if the situation didn’t matter, Congo wouldn’t be losing sleep over it either. How Nigeria chooses to organize its friendlies is not your BUSINESS and doesn't mean the case is not there. International friendlies are a normal part of football development for every country, period. |

Nigerians are cursed. Seriously cursed with the spirit of self sabotage. The same so called O.A.Ps, fake sports journalists and ex internationals that asked for the sack of Gernot Rohr few weeks to an AFCON and for Peseiro to be let go despite taking us to an AFCON final are now asking for Eric Chelle to be let go because according to them, his "demands" are too much (Same thing they said about Peseiro). Ask them for a possible replacement and you'll hear them bring up local coaches. 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ How did I find myself in the same country as these self harming idiots? We're not ready for any form of progress in this country. At this rate, our football will continue to be like our epileptic power supply. Tueh 🤮 |

Am I the only one who doesn't see Ademola as a 1v1 specialist. Yes he can dribble when he has to, but he is more akin to Salah. Finishing and movement. This is where he's most efficient at.

lbrichman2:Yes that counts as dribble on paper. But I meant 1v1 on the wings like Yamal, Madueke, etc. And Simeone calls him someone who isn't a combination player, which I feel is actually one of his strongest traits. |

COOL10:NFF will not listen to them. I doubt if they will ever appoint any local coach for the Super Eagles again. Who among them is even qualified at this stage? Is it Siasia, who ain't coached any team in over 10 years? Or Amuneke, who relegated Heartland and is still not getting it right in the NNL? Or Finidi, after the last disaster? Eguavoen? Oliseh? Never. |

Now that we are almost done with February, it is rightly beyond safe (that is much more than safe) to conclude that Christantus Uche's move to Crystal Palace was a waste of time and just literally took a full season off the lad's momentum and growth. He was doing just great at Getafe and had already metamorphosed into a main man at the club being handed the #10 jersey even yet the EPL came calling and instead of an upward climb, it has been a downward spiral. Uche has been left out of Palace's Uefa Europa Conference League squad for the knockouts and when you consider that his only starts for Palace this season came in the Conference league, with zero starts in the EPL, then this means Glasner has taken away the one chance Uche has to truly keep impressing. It is one thing to see our lads make the jump to the Top 5 leagues but it is surely another thing altogether to see them get the gametime/run of games they need to keep getting better. Tochukwu Nnadi at Marseille now is another worry. I dont like his current situation at all and with Marseille taking on Brest later today in Ligue 1, and him being listed by New Coach Habib Beye among the 22 players selected for the game, time will tell if he finally makes the Matchday Squad and gets his debut. When we celebrate our lads moving to the Top 5 leagues, let us also pay keen attention to their growth and gametime stats.
