Festus Keyamo Tackles Journalists, Activists Who Kick Against The Electoral Law by Pakute(op): 7:46pm On Feb 20
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has criticised some journalists and opposition figures for allegedly presenting their personal opinions as the views of Nigerians.

In a post on X on Thursday, Keyamo described the practice as “amusing,” questioning how such individuals could claim to speak for “the Nigerian people.”

In a post shared on X this morning, Keyamo took a swipe at the dissenting voices.

He wrote ‘’It is amusing to see how some journalists and core opposition characters, posing as ‘activists’, continually express their own deep-seated biases as the wishes of ‘the Nigerian people’. How and where did they aggregate the views of ‘the Nigerian people’?

Perhaps, by ‘the Nigerian people’, they are referring to those usual suspects who gather at the entrance of the National Assembly and pose for cameras; or the 15 Senators who voted against the majority of 94 Senators; or the less that 25 Rep members who walked out on the majority of over 300 Rep members; or those vocal few who hop from one TV station to the next everyday; or those who gather under the comment section on social media and vent their spleen - just how did they aggregate the views of ‘the Nigerian people’?

Nigerians should be alert as we enter an election season. Some journalists and almost every so-called ‘neutral’ commentator or activist you see or hear in the media are all working for one interest or the other; they just don’t have the guts to come out with their full chest to openly support the political party or candidate for which or whom they are working.''

Is it now that the opposition deem right to be discussing about electoral process?

They didn't even consider the logistics part of INEC.

Election is just a year but the opposition figure are not even sure of which party they will be contesting not to talk of who to vie as president.

They have failed to plan, inevitable plan to fail

The goal should not be who speaks for Nigerians, but what truly improves the credibility of Nigeria’s elections.

I agree with Festus. Majority of the Senate and rep members voted for what is now passed into Law by PBAT.
That is in itself the wish of majority of Nigerians. If you voted someone to represent you at the senate. Whatever they do there is a reflection of your wish and desire. If you aren't happy with your senator for voting against your wish, it is your responsibility to recall them or vote them out in the next election. It isn't for you to transfer frustration on the President for the decision the senate members representing YOU made.

Not when he has long joined the band of electoral thieves and criminals. Late Gani Fawenhmi will be turning in his grave now.

When I look at Festus Keyamo, I can’t help but wonder what the late sage Gani Fawehinmi would think today.

A man who rose to prominence as a human rights activist now seems far removed from the ideals he once championed.

They exact reason why they want chaos. You remember those unserious students that used to hope that heavy rain will fall or teacher will get sick or exam be cancelled since they were going to fail anyway? It's same with these fellows who have lost it all, they want to use anything to scatter the country.
If insecurity no work, they try coup, or Trump, or economy, or tax bill or PIA or INEC or even El Rufia detention. When they lose tomorrow's elections, you will still hear them threatening protests and occupying Abuja and Lagos. These are all known schemes of failures organised by their daddy the devil himself.

The earlier the opposition parties realize the country, under Tinubu, is already under State capture, the better.

2027 general elections?? Sham will be too timid a word to use in describing what it would look like, with the retention of manual transmission of results in the Electoral Act.

Expecting a transparent election from a government of Tinubu, Wike, and Akpabio, will be the opposition's biggest undoing!

Your comment is only applicable in an ideal Country, not ours.
Our electoral system is still acheic and doesn't hold credibility.
Why are we walking in reverse to what would bring credibility and transparency to our electoral process?
Most of our Senators are not representing their constituency and some never step into their constituency since the last election.
Our process of recalling political leaders is almost unattainable.
We can't even run to the judiciary.
The masses hands are entirely tied to their back and all we can do is to vent our frustration.
Our system is so flawed. The "amended" electoral guideline is not different from what we had, basically we didn't move an inch from where we were since the last amendment.

You aint as smart as you think, Patronize us here ... If truly electoral act passed was the wishes of Nigeria why Did they boycott conference committee 12 man vote

From the proceeding of the Reps last minute to rescind and quick pass to the Executive, then the Peesident under 24hrs signed a bill that was never vetted by attorney, inec or others in the guideliine

Now you said something about, if you had engaged "reasoning" ... How did you miss the fact that this politician just made the process to recall or remove renewly difficult as ever

That proviso.. Where there is no network or glitch ...that is there perfect excuse to invalidate IREv and reinstate the rigging process as the primary source of coalition nd declaring

IF not chronic blindness how can anyone see what Tinubu govt is doing and say it is the wishes of the people

is it even the wish of INEC, they said they can do e transmission you as senate is telling them it is impossible .. i ask you Mr man the amended electoral is it INEC wish talkmore of Nigerians. Please gerraout of here jare
