It feels like many people have one extreme opinion of Tinubu or the other. He is either the worst thing to ever happen to Nigeria or he is our savior. A lot of his economic moves like subsidy removal, FX reforms, and trying to increase government revenue should benefit Nigeria over time on paper. So I can understand to that level why people would like him at least to that level. At the same time, I understand why many feel the hardship is too much and that the government didn’t cushion it well, even though much of the cushioning depended on institutions or lack thereof that was already in place before Tinubu came in. I'm interested in hearing more on why people dislike him, what about Tinubu is so much worse than past Presidents? Not looking at it in the sense of the overall state of the economy which depends on many things but in terms of governance. |

How can one man make Lagos tick even more than it ever was, at the same time stand up to CBN currency cabal, breakup cabal, "Genocide" cabal, still become President? |

Some people need who to blame for their shortcomings in life and PBAT comes in ready for them to vent their failures and toxicity on. Btw, who has a perfect life? No one, but smart people learn to handle their expectations without having a negative outlook towards the country as if Nigeria is the only country in the world experiencing economic challenges. |

It's not hatred it's about beliefs Take for example, those who have been saying this government hasn't done a thing, sincerely, they can witness things that this government has been doing but they just can't believe it They have the mentality of if not the person they supported win the presidency, things can never be better. The Buhari they castigated all through his tenure, saying no tenure can be worst than Buhari's own, they have crowned this government the title of the worst tenure while Buhari suddenly became hero. |

steadygo:Tinubu is a great adminstator and one of the most skilled politicians of all time. I think in the world, only Putin and Netanyahu are close to Tinubu's political ability. But in Nigeria, political ability is 80% willingness to steal and overtake which he has no limits on. As an administator he is mediocre and tribalistic. He overtaxes, and applies primative level of nepotism. But he is smart and tough and I like that he has what it takes to put the north in check. Whether notherners like it or not, the excesses of their politicians are damaging to all Nigerians. Obi would have been more diplomatic and accomodating. I rate his advantages higher than his disadvantages, so I'm ok with him being president. If the next election is between him and Obi then Nigeria has truly advanced. |

Was Tinubu hated when he wasn't the president? No. He became a failure. He became the talk and inherited Buhari's hate. |

Tinubu's case is that of from frying pan to fire. Buhari showed Nigerians shege, Tinubu came onboard and declared with arrogance that he'll continue from where he stopped and he fulfilled/fulfilling that promise.......How do you expect people to like him? The only people supporting Tinubu are the ones benefiting from his failed government or those suffering and smiling. Nigeria has never had a messiah as president but it has never been this bad. |

If you are "always" a winner and mostly successful where most people have not and you are also a public figure or worst still,a politician, you will be hated by envious and phd people. |
| Re: Why Do People Genuinely Dislike Tinubu? by Putinofrussia: 10:25pm On Feb 20 |
Bahamas95:Yes,It was very bad when he started and we all know why but he said it would get better. Things have begun to ease greatly but some are still up there. He has more positives than negatives but insecurity is one of the greatest problem bedevilling Nigeria now. We will surely overcome. |

steadygo:Before I answer your question, I will ask you honest question and I will need you to answer me sincerely. Can devil ever do good? The obvious answer is NO! A man's source of income mostly determines who he becomes in life. How a man earns a living matters a lot in how he handles every other thing in life. The moment a man ends up earning a living through brazen corruption, illegalities, cheating others and committing serious crimes, that man can never be a good leader because his conscience will become dead. Tinubu is a known corrupt man, a kleptomaniac with too many secrets (family lineage, age, educational record, employment history, business dealings, marriage, etc) and gray areas, who used illicit wealth or let me say unknown wealth source to buy Lagos state Governorship position which he then confiscated the moment he became Governor of Lagos state in 1999 and has held Lagos state on ransom ever since then, selecting and appointing Governors, House of Assembly members, LGA Chairmen, etc like Lagos is his personal family business. Tinubu owns a private jet, ask yourself how did he acquired a private jet; someone that doesn't have any known and popular business or company rendering services or selling products to a large population, so how did he acquired the wealth to buy private jet and become stupendously rich if not through corrupt practices, including confiscation of Lagos state and turning it to his private estate where he rules like an emperor. Now a man with such a questionable character, who made most part of his wealth through corruption and corrupt practices that is obvious to all, can such a man ever do good as a President that now provide him the opportunity to loot at a larger scale without questioning? Did you see how he awarded the coastal highway project, a big project like that was never advertised on national dailies for months for interested and capable contractors to bid, boom he awarded it to his political-business associates at a very whooping cost. If Nigeria was China, or some serious countries, Tinubu and Dave Umahi will end up in jail serving life sentence or facing capital punishment for such brazen corruption and abuse of office. Go and read about the case of a former British Royal now under arrest for abuse of office, he never did half of what Tinubu and co have done without national outcry. Another reason I personally dislike Tinubu is his nepotism and dangerous politics of tribal division, whereby he intentional incite Yorubas against Igbos as a political tactics. He uses tribal sentiments and bias to rally his tribesmen and women and also awaken their consciousness to a dangerous level towards the Igbos whom he feels threatens his political hegemony in Lagos, and this has further polarized and divided Nigeria, especially among Igbos and Yorubas more than ever. Don't think he started it in 2023, he has always used this divisive politics before Peter Obi contested for President in 2023. If you doubt me, go back and search about Jimmy Agbaje and his tag as an Omo Igbo which Tinubu's political party and adherents have been using since 2015 especially. So that is my number one reason for not liking Tinubu, he has polarized Nigeria and divided Igbos and Yorubas more than ever in history and the damage he has done will take God and years to repair. Lastly, he is arrogant and prideful. He always carry himself like he is a god that nobody can challenge him and that whatever he wants he does and whatever he says he must do whether it affects people or not doesn't matter. This is a very bad quality of a leader. Let me stop here for now |

Kalashnikov49:Tinubu that never owned a private jet before 1999 later bought one after his stint as Lagos state Governor. The same Tinubu kidnapped Lagos state since 1999 and turned a whole Lagos state to his family's private company where they sit on top of Lagos treasury and affairs like it's their inherited kingdom. Such a man had the guts to arrest Malami, El Rufai, Emefiele, etc for corruption and looting of public funds, is that not the biggest joke of the century? If you throw a question to Nigerians to tell you the 5 most corrupt politicians in Nigeria, I am sure Tinubu will be among the top 2 and some people believe such a man is sincerely fighting corruption and government fund looting as President, how please? Someone should make me understand better in case I am missing something |

The OP is a TINUBU onlinebandit. They actually do these things to gauge the tempo of the populace. Claiming to be liberal but pushing the same agenda .. TINUBU is all over the SE with his useless cityboy movement and the propaganda package hasn't gotten any traction because people are actually disgusted about his actions towards the region and their citizens. You destroy their properties in SW You tax them to death You jail and humiliate their leaders You align with the North and removed Jonathan You employ people that are hated or not tegarded in their regions as your spoke person's His wife has inbred hatred for the SE All these things and more are done to the region and you expect them to Sheepishly LOVE him? It's NOT gonna happen. To imagine, that after calling the region Dot Nation with all other derogatory names, the guy now sees the region as a needed ally, speaks alot of their very treacherous and unstable character. You abuse people, mock them, sabotage them, and now you are begging for useless alignment because the NORTH has very obviously abandoned and rejected them? If the SE could reject Buhari TWICE and have been vindicated by his abysmal government, who then is TINUBU to champion the penetration of the SE. Any SE/SS person that even contemplates voting or supporting the same people that rejoice over your misfortunes is a vastard. Let TINUBU go to the NORTH and remember he NEVER aligned with the SE. So SOUTHERN UNITY IS DEAD. PS: All reports from cityboy events in the SE have recorded monumental failures The ONLY THING that can reverse the trend is to release Nnamdi kanu. He does that and the SE will vote him and OBI will struggle in the REGION. That aside..he is a BIG JOKER. franchasng: |

People do not hate or dislike him, they just dislike what he represents. He’s the embodiment of everything that is wrong with Nigeria today. The only people benefiting from or enjoying his government are his fellow political class. |

OP, nobody chooses to genuinely dislike or hate your Tinubu. Unfortunately, Tinubu history and records attracts dislike & hate from all legitimate and hard working human beings. Fake certificate, $460 Drug heroin forfeiture in USA, Snatch and grabbing ballots boxes, Corruption personified, Misplaced priorities (recent wasted $9 million to lobby Trump and yet Nigeria got hit). etc At least, Buhari was erroneously loved for something "mai geskiyia" meaning "one with integrity" OP please mention five things you loved about Tinubu person and character. |

Ofodirinwa:Nice one. Just yesterday, a Nigerian man based in the US, currently visiting Nigeria, shared this exact perspective. A lot of people I know abroad think the same way. I used to think it was just because they live outside Nigeria, but after a dream I had about Nigeria, I started seeing politics differently. |
