If Oyedepo pays the nursing school fees, what about over 100k of his church members who also need such assistance? So he was only trying to discourage his church members from camping outside his house begging for alms.

Having said that, all pastors need to learn from Prophet TB Joshua’s charity system. He never bought any private jet, but rather spent the vast majority of church funds on charity. He would definitely have paid the nurse’s school fees.

I'm not a winners chapel member but I'm a christian. The poster said this is not to make the Bishop look bad, but if not what is it.
My questions are, are you born again, do you believe in God,why do you go to church, what is your purpose of going to church, did you go to church just to receive material gifts from pastor, did winners chapel have no protocol and finally did you attend or are you a member of a smaller cell in the winner chapel church.

3years is small?
Why didn’t the same church tell the new comers to wait for more than 3years before they start giving tithe and offerings?
Oyedepo has a foundation that has helped thousands via scholarships, with proven beneficiaries.

There are ways to go about these things, Living Faith Church has a standard procedure to follow, you can't just bump into Oyedepo and ask for money because that will open the floodgate for thousands of such direct begging.

Follow the laid down procedure and the church will most definitely assist

My only response to you will be from the Bible 👇

Acts of the Apostles 2:44-46 NLT
[44] And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. [45] They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. [46] They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—

https://bible.com/bible/116/act.2.44-46.NLT
Can you help me priase Gawd....lol

And in response...the church at that time was not up to 200-300 people. This was a small sect, not the large religion it is today, but a small sect that at the time to an outside observer was just another sect of the Jewish religion (that;s a long historical discussion, so we leave that there).

That's why they could afford to do all that.

But as the church grew, they had to develop something like a bureaucracy. First off, by Acts 7, deacons were appointed...because the numbers were growing, and help was needed. By later verses, there were some branches of the church all over the world..so one had to write a letter to the main church to see if help was to be got.

I am not here to justify Oyedepo, or Living faith (I even find the church has issues)...but the sad thing is that when a church is too large , and there are members who need help, protocols are drawn up to help such members. The guy ignored all the protocols (unless he has not told us the whole story) and went straight to Oyedepo.

I hate to say this, but assuming you were in Oyedepo's shoes, would you be able to attend to everyone asking for help from your church...or would you direct them to try the appropriate channels....

I don't know, religion may be oppressive sometimes, but this isn't one of those times. There is a reason why we have charitable organisations, for example...

Am sure TB had protocols for looking for aid by the by.

That is the error on the part of the woman and the son.

What about Oyedepo angrily telling them to apply to Lagos State Bursary department?

Now the nurse have graduated, I didn't see where he attributed his success to God, rather he is more interested in announcing the perceived disservice done to him.

Moreover, how will the pastor know in split seconds, the sincerity in the request and if you are his member? Do you know how many such requests come in on daily basis. Moreover most of those churches have systems put in place to address welfare issues. He was supposed to start with the cell system, then chapter pastor and co. That it's the church doesn't mean money should be dished out anyhow
God did not help the nurse, he helped himself, that's why he didn't attribute his success to God. Remember, they say, God can only help people through people. This man approached a man of God and was disappointed. He struggled himself, faced trauma, faced pains, hunger, etc and eventually made it. Now you want him to attribute his success to God? How? huh

Pastors don't help their members but loves receiving their tithe and offering.

Reason why most people exit the worship centres.

People are wise now.
You are clueless on how many people Living Faith Church has helped. There is a laid down procedure to follow, thousands who channeled their plea via the appropriate channels have gotten assistance, so many have benefited from scholarships, so what are you saying?

Serving God and attending church are different things. Going to church is just a social activity like going to school, club, amusement park etc. Serving God is making sure that your neighbours live in peace and harmony and giving to the needy

At least this one that came directly to him, he can help in one way or the other. He should have directed him to a sure scholarship foundation owned by himself. Something like, "When you get to my Scholarship Foundation office, give me a call, let me speak with those working there."

But maybe the foundation itself is a scam. That's why he was directing the man to Lagos state bursary or whatever. Hmm grin

do you know how much pastors give in aid and scholarships Yearly,
If they start showing the help they render daily, people would still accuse them of showing everything to gain more.

Stop believing these persons that accuse pastors up and down.
They were the ones that told people not to pay tithe, they are still those who would accuse pastors of not helping members.
Thank you.

My GO used to pay for school fees of at least 10 student that I know personally, because they are close to me and there is others that I didn't know in person.
So if he didn't pay for one person now people will tag him bad name .

Let's put this to ourself by asking ourselves that , I mine rendering help or assistance to everyone that seek help or assistance from me? No . But that person that you did not help or assist will tag you different name.

A Nigerian nurse has recounted an emotional experience from 2016 involving renowned cleric David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, revealing how the encounter nearly shook his faith and commitment to church attendance.

The man, identified on social media platform X as @Nrs_Danie, narrated that he had struggled for years to secure admission into the Lagos State School of Nursing, succeeding only after his fourth attempt. However, his joy was short-lived as he lacked the ₦230,000 required to pay tuition, with school authorities giving him just one month before forfeiting the admission. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to his account, he and his mother, who lived in Abule Egba area of Lagos, left home as early as 5 a.m. to travel to Sango Ota, Ogun State, where the church headquarters is located, hoping to seek financial assistance from the cleric.

He explained that they had been active members of the church for about three years, participating in services, prayers, and fasting programmes, which strengthened their belief that they might receive support.

They reportedly positioned themselves along the route where the bishop would pass before his morning service, waiting for an opportunity to speak with him.

When the cleric eventually arrived, the man said he and his mother rushed forward to plead for help but were stopped by security personnel.

He claimed that the bishop responded by advising them to apply for a bursary from the Lagos State Government instead.

The response, he said, left him devastated, considering the emotional and physical effort it took to gain admission after several attempts.

The nurse admitted that the incident affected him deeply and almost caused him to question his faith in God. However, he later came to the realization that religious leaders are human and that faith should be centered on God rather than individuals.

He emphasized that leaving church because of a pastor’s action would mean one’s faith was misplaced.

Despite the disappointment, he eventually completed his nursing education without financial assistance from the cleric and now works abroad as a nurse.

Reflecting on his journey, he said the experience strengthened his belief that personal faith and determination are more important than reliance on any religious figure.

You attended the church for just almost 3 years and demanding financial help based on period you've been with the church, what about pastors's children that's have been there for more than 20 years. Pastos can not help everybody approaching them for helps. Now that you are nurse and earning money how many people have you have helped financially, how many school fees have you paid for the less privileges.
May God give you wisdom.
So there's a part of the Bible that says a member must stay and worship in a particular church for a given period of time before they can be helped by same church?

I really don't know why this happened, but, just like the nurse dude said, clerics are human, too.

Just wondering what had happened to the Bishop that very morning.

However, not to hold brief for him, I would advocate that, as children of God, it is better to wait a couple of seconds before responding to a thing

Impulsive responses may lead to you not doing what God wanted you to do.

May His help all of us.

What about Oyedepo angrily telling them to apply to Lagos State Bursary department?
I read the story directly from the Nurse's post, and he never mentioned that Oyedepo angrily told them that.

He said:
"Oyedepo replied “go ask for bursary from Lagos state government”.

That was a direct instruction from Oyedepo to them.

If you are a Christian, then you should be familiar with the story of Prophet Elisha and Naaman.

Naaman who was suffering from Leprosy had gone to Prophet Elisha for a miracle, he was expecting Prophet Elisha to lay hands on him and heal the leprosy, but instead, Prophet Elisha just sent instruction that he should go and wash himself seven times in the Jordan River. Naaman was disappointed and angry at Prophet Elisha's instruction, but somehow, he still obeyed, did as the Prophet instructed and surprisingly got his expected miracle. (See the book of 2 Kings 5:1-15).

Sometimes, we get our miracles in the most unexpected way! While some may be lucky to get an immediate support from someone they beg for help, others may just be shown what to do to attract such help.

The poster didn't mention whether he and his mother did apply to the Lagos State Govt as instructed.

Maybe you could have said this story without mentioning the name of the pastor. I get the disappointment, and the fact that you saw him as your last hope! But God works in mysterious ways. If he had given you the money, your faith in God may have dwindled. God makes us go through things to remind us He’s the one we must always look up to. Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV)
This same man gives scholarship in billions of Naira every year! I attended CU and I know the number of students who were on fully funded scholarship!

When I talk now they'll say I'm bashing pastors. Forget about these people, they don't give. They believe it's their right to receive from people, most especially from their gullible members.

If you need help and a pastor is your last hope forget about it. Few days ago one Cl🤡wn countered me when I said even big churches still expect contribution from members.
