It's 2011 RX 350, I used my scanner it's showing Knock Sensor fault, the car dashboard is showing check AWD and check engine light is also displaying on the dash. Any recommended technician? I'm in Lagos. Gazzuzz was my only trusted technician, I'm yet to get someone else. All the gear changes normally and smooth, only gear two makes that small clunking sound while changing, but no delay at all. I want it to be smooth as before without feeling the gear change while driving. NOTE.... The clunking sound has drastically reduced on its own but one will still feel it whenever the gear two is changing kingreign: |

tempest12:For the knock sensor, replace both. They tend known to fail when the car experience overheating, rodents are known to chew the wires and poor fuel quality are known to trigger knocking or premature detonation. As for the transmission fluid, change oil and filter. Use genuine transmission filter and genuine AISIN WS or GENUINE TOYOTA AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPE WS |

You're right... Please kindly recommend a good technician, I'm in Lagos... Although the gearbox oil and filters were replaced. The knocking sensor, will need to check if rodent ate up the wire due to long park down, so the sensor can be replaced. My major concern is the Gearbox. I need someone with good scanner and expertise. Please any recommendations? My scanner is the basic type not the professional deep scanning type that can reset the AWD and clear the alarm on the dashboard kingreign: |

Good day fellow Am having this issue Four days ago, I noticed slight delay, then everything looks normal from my matrix 2009 model car, Three days ago, after approaching mecanic, I was informed that my car is due for services (gear). Two days ago, I did service by changing oil and the filter. Thereafter, it gets worse by delaying up to 5 to 10 secs while reving , then move sluggishly. Today, I scan it It shows P2716 Pls advice accordingly. Pls |

I drive a 2006 Toyota Corolla Sport. The engine and transmission are in good condition, but whenever I switch on the air conditioner, the car feels heavy, sluggish and make some noise as if it’s climbing a hill. Once the AC is turned off, it drives perfectly. What could be causing this, and what is the solution? Please help!!! |

Gentew:Good evening sir, Thank you for clearly explaining your situation. From your description — 2006 Toyota Corolla Sport, engine and transmission in good condition, sluggishness and unusual noise only when the A/C is on, and normal performance when A/C is off — this is a typical load-related issue caused by the A/C system rather than the engine or transmission. For future reports, always include vehicle year, mileage, and whether it’s FWD or any engine modifications, as this helps narrow down causes faster. ⸻ 🔧 Professional Diagnostic Insight 1️⃣ Engine Load from A/C Compressor (Primary Factor) When the air conditioner is switched on: • The A/C compressor engages and draws extra mechanical power from the engine • On older vehicles like a 2006 Corolla, engine mounts may have weakened, which makes vibrations and “heaviness” more noticeable • The alternator also works harder to support the A/C clutch and blower system, adding slight engine load This explains the sluggish feel and extra noise during A/C operation. ⸻ 2️⃣ Possible Contributing Factors • A/C compressor starting torque: If the clutch or compressor is worn, it may make a grinding or “climbing” noise when engaging. • Refrigerant pressure: Overcharged or undercharged systems increase compressor load. • Condenser/evaporator airflow restriction: Poor airflow causes the compressor to work harder. • Drive belt tension: A loose or worn serpentine belt may slip under A/C load, making noise and reducing efficiency. • Engine mounts: Weak mounts amplify noise and vibration under additional load. ⸻ 3️⃣ Why Performance Returns When A/C is Off When the A/C is off: • No extra mechanical load is applied • Alternator demand reduces • The engine returns to its normal power output This confirms your engine and transmission are healthy, and the problem is external load-related. ⸻ ⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop – Professional Take Your Corolla is operating as expected for its age, but the symptoms indicate minor A/C system and accessory wear rather than serious engine or transmission issues. This is common on older cars, especially when the system has not been serviced regularly. ⸻ ✅ Professional Summary & Correct Next Steps To resolve this issue permanently, we recommend: ✔️ A/C compressor inspection for smooth engagement ✔️ Check refrigerant levels and system pressure ✔️ Inspect serpentine/drive belts for wear and proper tension ✔️ Inspect engine mounts for excessive play or weakness ✔️ Clean or replace condenser/evaporator if airflow is restricted 📍 Clients come to us from different locations — distance is never a barrier when the job must be done right. If you want this checked and corrected professionally, bring your vehicle to Ryan Automotive Limited for full evaluation and proper servicing. Ryan Automotive Limited Precision. Transparency. vinzita1:What oil did you use? |
| Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by kingreign(op): 10:36pm On Feb 20 |
Gentew:Engine is low on compression or weak or compressor is robbing off much power from the engine. Have the compressor checked by an ac technician, if he confirms its fine, go to a kazeem to check if engine has any misfire or fuel related issues or air intake related issue. If none, budget to rebuild or replace the engine. |

cyif2003:If u read the way I analyse it one after the other by days First, I discovered slightly delay, which I suspect something about to happen Secondly, found out that the oil is dirty Thirdly, I service by changing oil filter and oil(ws) Of which it gets worse in its delay. Fourthly, I scan to know the fault, which comes up with P2716. |

cyif2003:Under load, ignition issues can present more clearly, your air conditioning uses a compressor and that's additional load. |
