"Don't you think that sharia criminal justice system will lead to breakup of Nigeria?" ---a BBC female Reporter asked Sani Yerima, the then governor of Zamfara state who brought sharia criminal justice system to Nigeria beginning 1999. |

CodeTemplarr:No state or local govt laws can supersede the circular justice system of Nigeria. Nigeria's Constitution was supervised by Muslim northern military dictators. They refused to allow Sharia criminal justice system in the constitution, knowing full well the catastrophe it shall cause if allowed in a Nigeria of plural religious faith. Sani Yerima introduced sharia criminal justice system in the far north during the administration of Christian president Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo saw that it was unconstitutional but chose to downgrade it as political sharia. Shortly after, Boko Haram emerged and says it's fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws. One of the earliest demands of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Mohammed, appointed by then President Muhammadu Buhari, was for Islamic sharia criminal justice system be included in Nigeria's Constitution. At best solution, the 12 sharia states can have Arewa Islamic Republic to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system. |

Gunmi is right. The opponents of shariah law are doing everything possible to import their satanic lifestyle into Muslims dominated Nigeria. |

Razzness:Nice observation. But i disagree somewhere. Non-muslims cannot be compelled to submit to a sharia court/law but it is practically happening on our streets. People are been lynched and burnt alive as a result of sharia. Pls i am in support of this particular US interest on nigeria. Because e be like say the matter pass our country to resolve for decades now. God go run am for us. |

Deborah was lynched by mob. In fact it was her own class mates that leaked the voice note she posted on their class Whatsapp group. It had nothing to do with Shari'a court. No Shari'a court in Nigeria can sentence a non Muslim for blasphemy. abiodunbright: |

| Re: Gumi Defends Shariah, Faults US Lawmakers’ Report by Razzness(m): 10:18am On Feb 25 |
You said people are being "lynched" in the street. Even before Shari'a law, people have been lynching each other, not just in the North. I grew up in warri and I can't count the number of times I have seen people lynched to death on accusations of things like witchcraft or theft. Of course the US is very much welcome to help Nigeria fight terrorism. It is clear that we can't defeat these terrorists on our own and we can't continue living like this. Flexyup: |
| Re: Gumi Defends Shariah, Faults US Lawmakers’ Report by Razzness(m): 10:22am On Feb 25 |
No Shari'a court has ever sentenced anyone to death. The constitution does not give them the power to do so. All criminal cases go straight to federal or state high courts. Go and study the constitution. Dbegining: |

Sharia proponents don't have good intentions, so we don't need it and we don't want it, keep it to yourself and don't bother us with it. |

You wonder what the so called Sharia has contributed to their society. Whenever I see people who can't use real life situation to explain but uses religious quotes, I just shake my head and move on. |
| Re: Gumi Defends Shariah, Faults US Lawmakers’ Report by Dbegining: 10:37am On Feb 25 |
Razzness:You don't get it. Is Shari'a law opposed to death for blasphemy? For the fact that no Shari'a court has sanctioned anyone to death doesn't mean that Muslims don't already know that according to Shari'a they can kill for blasphemy. Do you think an average northern Muslim knows the difference between criminal and civil law? In their knowledge and by what their clerics have told them, Shari'a prescribes death for blasphemy and Shari'a is in effect in their states. They are carrying out a law that is not in the constitution but is still a law. A law that is derived from the Quran and Hadiths. A law they know FROM the Quran and not from the Nigerian body of laws. |

Razzness:It is not Sir. Hisbah police in Kano arrested people for not fasting and girls for loitering during Ramadan. The constitution clearly guarantees freedom of religion and association without imposition. Razzness:I grew up in Warri too so don't lie. Where they killing them in Jesus name or shouting Jesus is the greatest ;while killing them |
