Is It Better To Learn A Skill Or Focus On Formal Education In Nigeria Today? by Fharahyiola(op): 10:22am On Feb 25
Good morning house.

With how things are going in Nigeria now, I’m honestly curious.

Do you think it’s wiser to focus on getting a university degree,
or to learn a practical skill (tech, tailoring, digital marketing, etc.) early?

We’ve seen graduates struggling for years.
We’ve also seen people without degrees earning well because of skills.

If you were advising a 17–20 year old today, what would you tell them to focus on?

Degree? Skill? Or both?

Let’s discuss realistically.

Both.... Even with 2hrs per day learning most skills online (or even only during weekends for physical skills like bakery, furniture), by the time you're done with your education. You'll be skilled at both worlds and ready to earn big bucks.

But whatever you choose, put your mind into it and reallllly be good. It may appear that most things are saturated, but the truth is that there are more half-baked people out there than truly skilled persons.

Do both, none is better than the other,it depends on the opportunity you are exposed to at any given time

Trueeee 👌🏽
I like how you said “half-baked people” 😅

That’s the reality consistency beats saturation any day.

Quick question: if you had to advise someone with just 2 hours daily, what skill would give the fastest results in Nigeria right now?

True, exposure really changes the game 👀

Even the same skill can make huge money for one person and flop for another depending on opportunities.

I’m curious
what would you say is the most underrated skill right now in Nigeria that people should focus on?
