I have a friend I want to assist so he can gain his footing and be self reliant.
We're in the East. What business can I set up for him with 500k so he can run it and be making some money on his own onna daily basis?

What type of business did your friend say he's interested in? People may give you lucrative suggestions that worked based on factors like location, personal knowledge that may not apply to your friend.

He's been asking for help since and I didn't have the means. I have the means now. He doesn't have any choice. Anything I set up for him, I trust him to manage it very well.

Imagine someone opens up a Chemist shop for me, how I wan take manage am? Even if I learn what drugs to give for what complaints, how I wan take know where to get drugs for restocking at prices that will bring higher profit margins.

You still have to let him talk, that way he xan actually be accountable and more responsible in managing it.

a bank will not give you a loan for your business if you dont have a viable business plan

giving a guy with no plan no experience money is throwing the money away
