I told a friend who's in haunt for apartment in my area about the availability in this our neighbourhood and before he could speak my sister and my mom said is it not the same house that an old woman lived before passing away? And I was like is there anything wrong with it? But my mom stretched out words to debunk any attempt of my friend taking the apartment as she said the old woman have been living in the house for more than 40yrs before she died. That it's not good for someone who's not deep in the spirit to acquire a such house.
PLEASE IS THERE ANYTHING LIKE GHOST OR MY MOM WAS ONLY SPEAKING FROM TRADITION?

People have experienced haunted homes and legitimately documented their experiences. That may not be the same in this case. But then such claims are valid

What you are haunting for is haunting you.

On a more serious note, your mom probably has more information than you do and 40 years is not a joke. Many people here are not even up to 40 so don't take your mom's warning for granted. She likely knows something that you don't know. Are there haunted houses? Just google the term and you'd be surprised. It's not a Nigerian thing. There are not only haunted houses, there are haunted places. You've been forewarned.

They're called familiar spirits.
They usually take the face of dead to appear to the living, especially through dreams, but the living must realize that they have power over them.

I wouldn't live in such a house. In fact, I will never move to any house knowing full well that the former occupant died in that house.

It isn't about the fear of ghost or anything close to it. It just makes me uncomfortable knowing I will be using things that a dead stranger has touched before.
