Are they the same?

Anyhow.
He got the spelling wrong. It is Tanfiri. We used to buy tanfiri, eekana gowon, kokoro, baba dudu et al for less than 50 kobo

It was when I travelled to the north I first heard people called it Dokwa

Respect yasef and say it
Ok.

I suddenly became the prince charming of the class, maybe even the whole school. At that point it felt like the girls had formed different political parties, all campaigning to be my “main chick.” If there had been an election, posters of my face would probably have been everywhere.

We didn’t do anything like sex though. Our kind of love was the old-school type - sweet and innocent. Unlike these days when, before you even say “hello,” dem don shift pant.

Back then, just walking together during break time could make someone feel like they had won a trophy.
One of the girls decided to go the extra mile. On my birthday, she bought me a perfume (Blue Dreams) I was shocked. She automatically became the first Nigerian girl in history to give me a gift.

I didn’t waste time, I crowned her my lolo immediately.
From that day on, whenever we appeared together during break, the other girls were kinda jealous and even some boys were wondering what magic I used. Honestly, in my mind, I was walking around the school like a small celebrity. grin

Akara or moimoi, not beans pie or beans cake etc.
Thank you jare. Akara is akara. Just like Shawarma is called sharwma even by the high and mighty British. It is Akara. Let the world learn to call it Akara. Fun fact: Akara is the Japanese word for the chaff that is left over from making soya milk.Akara is akara. It is not beans cake. Calling it beans cake is like apologizing that we do not have an English name for it. Example Sushi is sushi. There is no need to explain it. Likewise Akara is akara!!!!

Macaroni is macaroni; Spagetti is spagetti. When foreigners who don't know what akara is, then you can describe it to them saying it is a snack that is made from grinded beans after it's got softened by being soaked in water. After grinding, you then fry it in hot oil into small balls the size of which may vary as you desire.

If you don't want to mention the process of preparation, you can simply show them a picture of it. The internet is almost universally accessible now.

I don’t even think it’s true, the teacher back then probably disliked the thing and in instead of saying he personally disliked it, he went on a sabotage campaign

Coconut Candy...Yaaaaaaay! I love it so much I used to make and sell it when I was little. I like kulikuli too. I schooled in Ilorin, When I'm returning from lectures, I buy it as e dey hot, fresh from ororo. I eat Donkwa and Baba Dudu once in a while. I like Sweet Balewa and Eekanna Gowon too. That Sisi Pẹlẹbẹ, I don't do it. Give me Bẹskẹ, that's another Ilorin delicacy. I miss those days.

It is ''coconut sweet'' not ''coconut candy''. We don'tv say ''candy'' in Nigeria, we say ''sweet''.

If you say ''coconut candy'', not too many people especially the women who sell it, know what you are talking about. So, it is ''coconut sweet''.
Thanks for the correction smiley

Seriously, I need to learn how to make some of them, before they totally go extinct.
Especially this one.
One could make a kill from it, if well packaged.
Taste better than chocolates, in my opinion.

Groundnuts and sugar, I believe.
Kinda like a version of coconut candy.

Ghanaians call it Nkante cake, but theirs is rough in texture.
