So what's your solution?

Keep the high prices?

Then tomorrow you and Peter Obi will complain about "hunger in the land"?

Confused set of people.

Call instead for more incentives or subsidies for farmers, to lower their production costs, NOT return Nigerians to high food prices in the name of 'protecting farmers'. You can't sacrifice the interests of the majority for one group.
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by Dennisochampa: 3:44pm On Feb 28
So in other words, food prices should keep increasing so u will see something to campaign withhuh
Is this a joke or someone twitted this on his behalf??
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by Mathewrichard99: 3:45pm On Feb 28
You are smarter than my leader Peter Obi.....this statement he made is somehow I must confess. Our leader has become insensitive to the plight of ordinary Nigerians that he has been crying to be supporting. Our leader don disappoint us o big time......so, in your eye PO, we should be dying of hunger so that farmers can be making money ? Where's the angle of clamouring for subsidy for farmers so that they can sell lower to us. What about government buying of farmers produce and later subsidize to the people at a considerable price...my leader you fall my hand o.....😢😢😢😢😢😞😞

I think reduction in price of food will help against inflation.
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by Goodvibes007: 3:48pm On Feb 28
Worst opposition in the history of Nigeria. Wasnt it just a few days ago that Rufai Oseni called them useless.

Peter obi on the other hand is extremely dull.

What a very dummb and unintelligent take.
When the food prices are on the rise, the same Obi and his bandwagon were busy shouting "how much is a bag of rice" but today that the prices have stabilised, he's still finding fault as usual.
Hatred has blocked your positive reasoning bro. Did you even watch the video at all?
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by 9jatriot(m): 3:48pm On Feb 28
Very good for you. You would have been one of those shouting food is expensive even though you are one of those contributing to it.
God will keep shaming all enemies of this country.

Una go de confess small small
sirchim:
If you understand what he meant you are smart. Many of us stored many bags of grains, hoping to sell and make our profits. But today, it has crashed putting many of us into debts. As I am typing this, my bro is in a debt of #54M. OBI is RIGHT, our business is being frustrated by the government, that made food stuffs gone so high, due to bad economy. And today, it has crashed, such that it has put many of us into debts.
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by MasterTeeUSA: 3:48pm On Feb 28

It's behind your level of comprehension.

You allowed farmers to use costly tools and materials to farm,at the time of harvest you import cheap fool stuffs from other countries.

What does that mean for the farmers?
Mention the foodstuffs and where they were imported from.
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by Originalsly: 3:50pm On Feb 28
Buhari I had to be right approach ... ban unnecessary imports which increased local production. Tinubu iis using scarce foreign reserves to import food. Whose farmers will benefit from this?...our farmers or foreign farmers? ...whose economy will gain form this? ...ours or the exporting country's? ... and what do they say about a country that cannot feed itself? Obi ...is off with his logic ...wayyyyy off. What does he expect will happen in a poverty stricken country if food prices are kept high ? The blind showing the blind the way forward.

I don't know you personally, but I appreciate your sincerity as a person.

I almost doubt that you are a Nigerian though. The average Nigerian is a dubious, devious and diabolical entity.

This person planned to cheat the society and is now complaining that his mission failed because of the government. And this means, the government is bad.

He is not even denying that his motive was to fleece the market.

******* It will. People are already gnashing their teeth. Some farmers have debt. The other day, someone sold his cassava farm for opueke price to herdesmen to feed their cattle.

But Nigerians don't care. They're not interested. Government no send. In a couple of years when high prices come around again, they will wail and cry endlessly about "greedy farmers" and "meedle men".

You went into food business to try and exploit people with wicked profits by hoarding supplies?

Trillions of naira that CBN gave to the farmers under Emefiele to help produce food and make it cheaper, what did it achieve?.

Are you bitter people not the ones still begging the Government to open the borders and allow food come in?. Because Gbajue has spoken in his usual ignorant manner, una must support the nonsense he's saying?.
That's how they are. Pretty sure they'd drink Obi's urine, that is one of the waste product of the human body, and swear it is the best example of purified water in the entire universe.

Obvious the unintelligent Obi believes opposition politics is about automatically attacking and attempting to discredit every action of the government in power without engaging one's brain.
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by Nastrademus(m): 3:51pm On Feb 28
Obi is talking nonsense, and which food price is cheap? Tinubu met rice at 30k now 58k, it's still cost but not as costly as it used to
Obi is still my preferred candidate but he should get his facts before talking what he doesn't know

That headline is misleading. Listen to Peter Obi and understand that the Person that wrote the headline is mischievous.

Peter Obi was mak8ng reference to basic foods being imported, which have automatically killed farming. Manufacturing houses have been turned to warehouses of imported foods which is not a good one for the country.
In line with his consistent slogan, he said he would move the country from consumption to Production. Now we are importing basic foods we should plant that simply means we have killed farming and farmer's business in Nigeria.

Of course it will come with serious consequences.

People up there can't comprehend. They don't even have data to listen to Peter Obi.

ConDawah:
There's no way any country will experience high food prices for two consecutive years. It's basic economics.
What we're witnessing in general low price of agricultural produce is in direct response to scarcity witnessed in the previous year. We just need to ensure the surplus don't go to waste, and not create artificial scarcity to please the farmers. Most of us are also farmers in our own right.
God forbid this charlatan finds his way to our national life, never.
Everything you said is correct (apart from the bolded). These things go in circles - every farmer worth his salt knows it and those who are able prepare for it. I was just pointing out that when the high-price years come around, people will not remember and will make it look as if farmers deliberately create high prices.

Mr Obi is right to point it out too - that high prices, even though they're good, also have a downside on the national economy. Nothing charlatanish about that.

Tell that Infamous president of yours to fight insecurities so farmers can go back to farm. A pity he can't tackle Insecurity as he clueless as the rest of you on how to go about it.

These are the enemies of the country, vultures and hyenas that want to get to power.

When food prices were high, they were using it as a campaign slogan. When the prices are coming down, they are coming out to display their sadness.

The billions of naira Buhari threw at the farmers under the Anchors borrowers , how did it help?, farmers were smiling to the bank, the masses were crying. A new Government came with an alternative to ease inflation but Bitter people are not happy.

Nigeria indeed dodged a missile.
Were they not the people shouting that people are suffering? Were they are not the people shouting that government shouldn't remove subsidy? Nigerians can now see those that said that they are better alternatives.
Re: Crashing Food Price Would Make Farmers Poor - Peter Obi by 9jatriot(m): 3:53pm On Feb 28
Nothing misleading about the headline.

He was the same person crying like a bereaved when prices were increasing, he needed those high prices to campaign with, but now that God has overcme his wickedness he is now signing another tone

Abegi cut the crap and follow a reasonable leader who isn't following the advice of madman. Who is importing garri, beans and tomatoes into Nigeria? These items are also cheap now.
When most farmers were hoarding food to create artificial scarcity in order to inflate prices obi was crying about high food prices.
He's now running out of what to use as campaign tactics.
I thought some people on this forum especially Groundnutarians said that these are propaganda and no reduction in food prices anywhere.

No. I'm not into storage business. But storage business is a legitimate business too – without it, food would go to waste and prices would be even higher. Pity you've miseducated yourself on the subject.

I wonder how this man was elected governor of a state in Nigeria……he doesn’t even sound intelligent when he speaks with his petty sissy voice……it is an insult on the person of Tinubu to compare this trader with a man of Tinubu’s stature undecided indeed Nigeria dodged a bullet undecided

I don't insult Peter Obi but this time I have to.

I mean, this is straight jacket IMBECILIC!!!

Everybody knows Nigerian farmers are an extremely GREEDY BUNCH.

What did they do with all the subsidies and grants they got from Buhari that eventually runied our Naira Did they crash the prices of food

If we CANNOT grow our own food, let's import abeg.

These CRAZY farmers started hoarding food in warehouses just to create artificial scarcity in order to hike prices. Can you imagine

Peter Obi is a luuuunatticcc!!!

@ConDawah

Bolded is the notion I'm concerned about - the wrong idea that food prices go up because farmers "inflate" prices. People see these upswings and downswings of food prices every few years, yet they refuse to accept basic economics.
