But you are not adding any value to this conversation. He's putting his facts forward and you are here calling him ignorant instead of countering his points with yours.
Yes. He is not offering any value to the conversation, just throwing insults and accusations.

When he responded to the other poster, I was thinking he would say something reasonable to debunk what the other man said so those of us reading can learn. He said practically nothing in his two replies.

You wouldn't have been here littering this thread with nonsense if Tinubu had appointed an Onitsha 6 ceiling stall trader as the minister of Finance

I don't think so. The young man is a vibrant and financially prudent guy.

I think this is a strategic move to be able to plan for the windfall that's coming Nigeria way due to the ongoing war in the middle East.

You may love or hate the government, but some decisions are top notch decision and very strategic to development.

Also, we can't say this is an ethnic bias cos she's not out of the system but just a reshufflement.

I pray the government efforts yield the so much expected fruits so that the ordinary Nigerians can feel and enjoy the dividend of all these restructuring going on.....

However, we still need an urgent restructuring of the security outlooks.. NSA is more of a sentimental person cheering the position of bandits as a family matter.

Finance ministry is finally gone. Give it 6 months.

I said that because I feel the work of a finance ministry should go far beyond taxation alone; it should really be about shaping the broader economic future. When I look at the professional background and experience of the current leadership in Nigeria’s finance team, I honestly find myself worried about whether there is enough technical depth and strategic exposure to handle the scale of the country’s economic challenges. My concern is simply that leadership at such a critical ministry should inspire strong confidence in the direction of the economy.

Why didn't the President appoint you instead? Every Nigerian is a commentator as long as he/she has data, yet they will not position themselves for task they give opinions or criticize others for.

Unfortunately countries are not run by "feelings"! Tax is a fiscal subject so what are you on about?
I have no qualm with the competence of the fiscal guys. Both are are from technical , private sector background....Main guy is investment and trade savy (from Chapel Hill Denham experience), the other is a tax expert from the big 4, who was involved in drafting the current tax reform.
I like how you "opposition" figures are running amok this morning in ignorance.

Yes if you said so. The Net Reserve was around $3.5 billion in 2023 for a population of over 200 Million people. There was estimated $7billion forex backlog and many unfulfilled commitment to multilateral and Creditor organizations. There are hundreds of dilapidated and damaged roads and other. Infrastructure. Since 2022 some multinational and transnational corporations were leaving Nigeria partly because of inability to remit payment to home countries. Banks stopped foreign transaction on Debits Cards.

Fiscal and Monetary Policies finally collapsed in 2022 leading to the infamous introduction of cashless policy and Naira design changes when election was approaching early 2023.
Nothing works again and the economy collapsed.

Basically, from 2022 up till second and third quarter of 2023 we have many multinational and transnational Corporations leaving Nigeria. There are some Foreign Airlines that left Nigeria and about two stopped operations due to inability to remit money to home countries. There was estimated $7 Billion forex backlog which CBN cannot pay. There are commitment to multilateral organization and International Cooperations and Financial Institutions which CBN cannot fulfill.

Imagine a Diplomatic Agency in ABUJA and a very large donor agency with large foreign staff facing Financial crises in Nigeria due to cashless policies and new Naira notes denomination. Everything was in disarray. On official mission, Vehicles got stranded at filling stations. They rejected transfer and POS and demanded for Cash at filling stations. They bought 10,000 cash with transfer of 18,000 making us to transfer 54,000 to buy 30,000 naira cash. It got to a level, no cash again. There were problems with POS and Banks with failed transactions. Ambassadors, Counsellors, Charge d'Affairs and other Diplomatic officers were aware. They were observing events.

Now, since 2024, no multinational or transnational Corporations has left Nigeria, rather, hundreds of foreign companies are coming to Nigeria. Banks have started foreign transaction on Debit cards. POS everywhere are now functioning fully. There is cash at ATM and POS. Several roads projects are ongoing simultaneously with thousands of staff fully engaged. Most of these roads have been abandoned for decades.

The economy is now stabilized. When OBASANJO came to power in 1999 the country was in disarray. He met $5.5 billion in reserve with debts and bad infrastructure and economy.

The question you should have asked yourself is that why is the Yoruba always coming at a very critical point in the life of Nigeria?

This appointment is the most deserved in the whole of PBATs Cabinet asides from Dele Alake & Adegboyega Oyetola who are die hard loyalist of Pres. Tinubu.

Asides from being a core Tax Expert and also a well grounded private sector egg-head, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele has a rare skill which he exhibits mastery like a genius and it's the soft power of Persuasion.

Highly skilled in negotiations and soft-spoken. The best and classic interview was with Rufai Oseni on the Arise TVs morning show. Rufai in his characteristic manner asked him questions intended to rattle him by claiming he was part of the team that inserted clauses in the Tax Reform Bill.

He kept calm and overwhelmed his aggressors like a Machiavellian.

He will surely do well.

One ethnic group now controls ALL OF NIGERIAS FINANCE/ECONOMIC ministries/policies/operations...

For the records, this has never happened before. Not even when the daredevil fulanis were in charge.

Folks need to start worrying about what is going on in this areas, especially if you take into cognisance the fact that this lady was removed after it was proven that Tinubus government has refused releasing budgetary allocations to ministries...

Increased VAT/Taxes, increased borrowings, windfall from subsidy removals, widened tax net...What are they planning to do with all these monies??
grin Una go cry tire……..when we talk about Human Resources, no tribe comes close to the Yorubas……their administrative skills have been proven and we already seeing result of the economic reforms…..the CBN under the leadership of Cardoso and his team have been able stabilise the naira against doomsday predictions of naira reaching #2000, we have our foreign reserves growing astronomically, and states are no longer owing salaries, all this are happening under the leadership of a Yoruba controlled economy grin…..,,,,,when we tell you clowns, elections, have consequences, this is one of the result……you can’t be working for zenith bank and expect to receive salary from GTB…..if e reach your turn, if it’s eventually happens, you can do otherwise grin

The same man you accuse of stealing your delusional mandate and never acknowledged as your president? undecided you clowns should stop dishing to other what you can’t take…….Tinubu in his benevolence even gave SE some strategic positions in his govt like the chief of air staffs, and other senior ministerial positions like the minister of works and other appointments, yet you clowns ain’t satisfied……continue giving obi your 100% vote and expect appointment from the man you rejected undecided

undecided don’t mind those emotional adult babies that always throw logic out the window and reason through their tribal lens undecided Yorubas have always proven their administrative and human resource prowess at a critical time when our country is almost at it knees……we could remember how obj got us out of the woods and cleared our debt by bringing together a team of technocrats, now Tinubu is doing the same, reforming our economy and building our reserves, but this clowns can’t see that but fixated on tribe of the individuals and not the result……..the same govt they have never wish well and have always shown their hate disgust toward with the pattern of their vote but want the same govt to fill all positions with their clan undecided they lack every moral right to question his appoint because they never gave him a chance undecided

And you think the guy is not up to the task been given presently? Anyway, that's your prerogative. I think the guy has shown capability enough that he's up to the task and lete ask you something.....do you monitor the economy at all?

If you do or lete put it well....if you know how to monitor the economy..you would have seen that we are better off than where we were some years ago and it keep getting better since the last quarter of last year but I accept that all these statistics aren't reflecting on ordinary people which I also support that something drastic needs to be done to transform the little success in the economy to be reflected down to the grassroots.....i.am not a fan of this funny government but where there's truth, I am always eager to point it out.......we need progress, daily progress for this country......quote author=kettykin post=138670610]

I remember the other gentleman who passed through LBS; he served on the economic advisory team to the same administration of Muhammadu Buhari that critics now accuse of running Nigeria’s net foreign reserves down to about $3.5 billion. Interestingly, the current Minister of State was hardly visible on the national economic or financial radar until quite recently. What makes the story even more striking is that someone mentioned here that he was conducting ICAN tutorials under him as recently as 2021. It is remarkable how, within barely five years, an ICAN tutor could ascend to the office of Minister of State.
