But there were riots in which thousands of people died. Iranian citizens killed by government security services. Are those wasted lives not worth anything. And the reason for the riots in the first place was their sufferings. The lack of social amenities, then the sudden devaluation of the currency.

On the second point.
Iran has been active abroad. In destabilizing Syria, Lebanon and Palestine so they have no Arab friends. They have supplied weapons to Russia fighting Ukraine so they have no European friends. These are strategic mistakes on their part that has put their government in the cross-hairs of many countries and Iranian citizens under immense pressure.
