I wrote this on October 19th, 2025.

Now I am really very suspicious.

A woman did something that makes no sense at all. I didn't think it was very significant because there are many Nigerians that do things that make no sense, but more strange things have since occurred that make me now wonder if this was planned.

There are some dual carriageways in Lekki Phase 1 Estate and most of them lead to gates of the estate. There's Admiralty Way (which leads to the first gate), there's Freedom Way (which leads to the fourth gate), there's Adewunmi Adebimpe Street (which leads to the second gate) and there's Hakeem Dickson Street (which leads to the third gate).

These are dual carriageways. One carriageway has two lanes heading in one direction and the other carriageway has two lanes heading in the opposite direction. In other words, these are four-lane streets. The carriageways are separated by a median.

Some of the medians have grass, flowers and street lights on them.

So how can someone go to a median, set up a fireplace, pots and pans and start cooking there? Does it make sense?

This woman was cooking on the median, in the middle of busy traffic. She said that it was for charity. Sensible people cook elsewhere and bring the food to where ever they want to distribute it in food warmers (that's if you want to distribute it on the road), but this person was cooking on the median.

Thank God that the Kai and other government officials had started recording the scene as soon as they approached her. We won't have known what really happened if they hadn't done that.

We could see that they approached her and asked her what she was doing. They told her that she could not do that there and began removing the pot and pans that she put on the road.

Now, you see, one of the problems that we have in Nigeria is that there are people who believe that the government is wrong, no matter what happens. I think this wrong attitude developed because we were under military rule for a long time. Therefore these people will automatically support anybody against the government. Law breakers know this and they take full advantage of it.

So this woman began shouting that people should go live. She was shouting that her people should record what was happening. She began holding her hand, even though the officials did nothing to her (they didn't touch her).

I later saw the video that she released. She was crying and holding her hand as if the officials did something to her. All that show was simply so that she could gain sympathy from people that believe that government is always wrong. I heard that she's an actress. Well, she definitely put her acting skills to bad use.

But that was just the first scene in the drama.

The woman later recorded a video in which she was holding dollar notes. She claimed that Seyi Tinubu had given her twenty million naira because of what she claimed happened to her.

Seyi Tinubu later debunked the claim. He said that he discovered that some people that he knows raised some money for the woman without his knowledge. He said that the people wanted to help the woman to secure another space for her business (but I thought the woman said that she was cooking for charity and not for business). He said that, while their hearts might have been in the right place, he does not support any action that violates the laws of Lagos State. In fact, I think I'll post the screenshot.

While we advice Aunty Actress to desist from it as warned, which one is "...such activities (trading and cooking in public spaces)... Is not permitted under Lagos environmental protection law"

Is it because it's an actress?

Mr. Commissioner, who issues tickets to those women that trade and cook in public spaces at Iyana-Ipaja?

Same way LASTMA will be at Iyana-Ipaja roundabout, watching public buses load and offload passengers, without doing anything...these public buses will take half of the roundabout, loading Ikotun and Ayobo, causing traffic jam... But let "my car" (private cars) try to park there, you'll see them descend on the car like park of hyenas

Jealous commissioner, with complete lack of focus. Will he swear that he never purchased akara, fried yams, fried fish, etc on the streets of Lagos? What about the Iya alamala, food sellers everywhere in Lagos? Why single out this young lady who cooks for free and relieves citizens who are already hard pressed not finding what to eat daily?

Your government makes policies that make lives difficult for citizens. Some private citizens choose to help out with such generous acts and you hide under one law or the other to make the life harder.

Last year they seized her equipments and she apologized. This time she cooked in the front of a palace and yet the jobless commissioner called her out again. Is she cooking politically? Or is it political cooking. Even if she makes content out of it, the cooking benefits the downtrodden who have suffered untold hardships in the hands of APC since 2015.

I'm not supporting street cooking. They just shouldn't have seized her things. A verbal or written warning should have been enough.
