Stockhunter:Its the other way. They compound monthly but pay interest quarterly |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Preator: 9:40am On Mar 08 |
Coolis:See below. Its about 43k per million ( per year)

Stockhunter:The bolded is not correct. Stanbic does monthly compounding but if you require your interest to be paid to your account, it's done quarterly. At Ieast I use Stanbic and I know that at the end of everything month, my interest is added to my principal unlike FBN Quest and UCap that the addition is quarterly. |

Unrelated! How much can I use to build twin two bedroom flat in Aba, Abia State? My husband and I have about 52M in mutual funds which generates about 600k monthly. I'm considering japa in the nearest feature(the more reason I don't want to touch our capital, 52M) I own a business which I save at least 300k every month. The major contribution will come from me though. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Coolis: 1:32pm On Mar 08 |
In practical sense, you clearly presented both cases. 19% at quarterly compounding is the best. I'm sticking with trustbanc for now. My interest from January will compound on the 3rd of next month. Preator: |

Stockhunter:@Stockhunter, the bolded is the other way round. Both payouts and reinvestments are quarterly for others, except Stanbic, which reinvests monthly and payout quarterly. In fact, Stanbic has done some different schemes when it comes to interest utilization; there was even a time when the interest would be reinvested within a few days or even a day. They started, like others, with quarterly reinvestment or payment depending on the interest utilization an investor opt for. The current one is monthy reinvestment and a quarterly payout. Actually, fund managers are free to adopt different interest utilization schemes different from the norms, so far SEC doesn't frown at it. |

welzyj2:I started using them after the merger. I can see my cash contribution with each. They simply split it into 4 equal parts. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Preator: 3:42pm On Mar 08 |
Babygal2020:If ur nearest future is very near, why build now though? You could japa first and build later. The liquid assets provide a buffer during your transition phase. I've never been to Abia, so i'll allow those who live there give u an estimate. |

Preator:Exactly my fear. Na why I no wan touch our savings. It should be at least 60M by the time we are ready. But then, I don't want to put all eggs in a basket. |

Please Ma, there is a special thread for properties, go there and get more info on your questions regarding properties. This is a mutual fund thread, please don't derail our discussions here, because it might discourage others from coming here to learn about mutual funds and also discourage our financial experts here to guide us accordingly. Who knows anything about Medallion Fund? The largest hedge fund in the world and they donot hire Finance People. They trade using mathematical algorithms and believe the market follows a mathematical pattern more than anything else. Infact they believe wall street and Finance folks do not know anything about how the market works. If you had invested 100dollars with them in 1988 when they started out, you would be worth 400milllion plus now. Seeing this screenshot from EquityM shows a historical trend of red in March. Perhaps medallion has a point

The new equity I want to dive into with my foreign bank here is more like a hedge fund; I will update how it goes once I sign up today at the bank. Iamblessed8888: |

| Re: Mutual Funds by Nobody: 8:42pm On Mar 10 |
It does around 42YTD annually, the stocks are from China, Japan, South Korea, and the Netherlands. I just got an email from the bank offering their mutual funds; I guess they ran a check on my account and saw I do investments back home. Their MMF is 2% annually. Iamblessed8888: |
