It's surprising the weight of influence the media imposes on young people.

Some decades ago, no one in Nigeria, Africa, in fact, would have imagined doing a very useless procedure like BBL.

Today, celebrities, western culture have invaded the common-sense African brain...the outcome is a rubbish complex of materialism, inferiority complex, extreme sexuality, and plain stupidity.

This death is avoidable.

I feel for those she left behind.... people he has condemned to emotional and psychological distress.

And these friends....what were they doing when she was planning the surgery? Bunch of idiots flocking together.

As a doctor, I feel ashamed for colleagues that engage on useless procedures like this, like gender affirmative surgeries, etc.

Medical practice is fast losing its sanity - no thanks to the West.

Billions of dollars thrown away in research exploring the buttocks, breasts, face, etc. But the cure of HIV remains far-fetched.

Humanity, I feel for thee.

If you're truly a doctor, I would expect you to throw your searchlight on competence and ethical practice within the Nigerian medical profession, but you blamed this mishap on western influence.

Secondly, you failed to address the needless deaths caused by Nigerian clinicians who engage in willful negligence, demonstrating reckless disregard for foreseeable, harmful consequences.

I doubt if you Nigerian clinicians are aware of your legal 'duty of care' to your patients.

It Is a risk nonetheless . Will girls stop taking the bbl risk ? No . Have drug mules stopped going to Saudi despite the death penalty ? I'm certain that on the consent form she signed, associated surgical complications were well discussed.

3. We are aware of our 'legal duty of care" and, despite an extremely horrible working environment, we continue to provide great medical care. Again, let's not derail the thread.

she's beautiful the way she is but most girls aren't contented with the body they have and would go extra miles to get what they assume as the perfect body and even at that still won't be satisfied.
There are a thousand and one girls out there who require very simple or no make-ups and their beauty would outshine others but due to low self esteem and been afraid to stand gossips who would say they can't afford such, they push themselves to the so called facial improvements that makes them loo like morsels of eba .
God gave you natural long eye lashes, you scrape them off to fix artificial ones, natural , strong , long and firm nails but you cut it to fix artificial ones.
Bust enlargement for what exactly? To turn men heads or what? it doesn't add up. unfortunately , she won't be the last as thousands more are queuing to get it done.

Your attempt to absorb the Nigerian medical bad practice of any culpability is laughable. You mentioned consent, but failed to address if the lovely lady actually met the criteria for a repetitive/correction surgery. Let me remind you of Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson's personal physician. Based on evidence, he acted with Michael's consent but when it resulted in a needless death, he was summarily sentenced to 4yrs in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

Those two sharp mouths should shut up, cosmetic surgery is not regulated like conventional surgery and most times they're done without proper medical consultation as we've seen in deaths in other countries, There are also some privacy issues that may actually prevent the 2nd doctor getting full disclosure especially if the patient remains obstinate and insisted on getting the surgery. I did a bit of looking up on cases like this.

Where is the fault?
The second doctor is likely at fault if they ignored "red flags" (like scar tissue or poor health) that the first doctor caught. They are legally and ethically required to ensure the procedure is safe, regardless of what the patient wants. If they didn't explain why a second BBL is significantly more dangerous, they failed the requirement of informed consent.
2. Do they compare notes?
Almost never.
* Privacy Laws: HIPAA and similar laws prevent doctors from sharing patient info without your written permission.
* "Silos": Private clinics are independent businesses; they don't have a "master database" of who was rejected.
* Doctor Shopping: If a patient hides the fact that they were previously turned down, the new surgeon may have no way of knowing unless they see physical evidence during an exam.
3. The Bottom Line
A second BBL is anatomically much riskier because previous scarring makes it harder to avoid veins. The first doctor upheld their oath by saying "no"; the second doctor may have prioritized a fee over non-maleficence (doing no harm).
