I know we will definitely have different opinions but to be candid, is ₦90,000 annual tuition fees not too small for a nursing school?

Nursery schools won't even accept that on a yearly basis, at least like ₦60,000 per term, making ₦180,000.00 a year.

To learn tailoring, there are places you pay as much as over ₦1,000,000.00.

Same Nigerians will complain that lecturers salaries are nothing to write home about.

We will complain of no laboratory and medical equipment in these schools, How about research funding?

Some nursing schools' hostel fee is over ₦500k per annum, not tuition.

We will compare Nigeria to all other countries to make it look bad, what is ₦90,000.00 for a nursing school? About $67, even the ₦580,000.00 is still not up to $450.

When they finish studying, they are not even ready to stay and serve the country but travel to another country and be condemning the same Nigeria that gave them the platform.

I can bet that very few or none of these people can achieve a nursing school abroad financially.

₦580,000 for a nursing school is fair. We should stop being irrational when it comes to Nigeria Matter. If we don't have positive contributions, silence can be golden.

Govt must feed you, Govt must do everything, it's always complain here and there.

If a nursery school tuition fee is ₦5,000, will anyone of you ever allow your babies to attend? You will easily say the standard is low but Universities should be collecting ₦19k annually.

The fact that some enjoyed free education, doesn't mean it will be like that for ever, we need to build our country now, let's all sit tight and be ready to make the sacrifice.

If I were the school authority, I won't change it.

How did they come about the increment?

90k is Indeed unrealistically low for a proper nursing education.

If the story is that new students are expected to pay 500k and the existing ones have more modest increases, it's less outrageous. We will still ask how they reached the 500k figure but at least we can calmly discuss that.

But if you're asking existing students to pay that huge sum, toor! Outrage is understatement

Nigeria can't educate you almost for free and immediately you graduate, you will travel abroad to go and use the education you got almost for free in Nigeria (with Nigerians tax payers money) to benefit other countries and even start calling Nigeria all sort of derogatory names.

Make una stop giving filmsy excuse of its federal college. That's not the only federal college we have in Nigeria

This is a Federal University ooo. The wonders happening under Tulumbu. If you ask now, his confused urchins will tell you there is NELFUND loans.

This country was finished completely when Buhari was President, But now Tulumbu is is President, it is completely finished.

If you are wise... you would know that every institution determine their school fees. The governing council does this.

So, when does the certificate renewal end? When can they officially japa? It really does not help people's cases to inflate the tuition fees, yet obstruct their career advancement so that they earn better salaries.

Mumu talk. Will all of them leave the country after graduation? What makes you feel that hospitals abroad still sponsor medical practitioners from Nigeria? Do you even know that they're mandated to work in Nigeria for two years after graduation before thinking of traveling out? Nigeria taxpayers money my foot. Taxpayers money that can't give us pipe borne water, good roads, or electricity. So, taxpayers money can only fund education. Be deceiving yourself there.

Let's be honest, the education is subsidised. The country is too overpopulated and poor to fund most of the federal system. The alternative is for "richer states" to subsidise tuition fees for indigenes and charge non-indigenes higher. But the federal government is just too poor to fund most of these schemes.

As for leaving, fine, not everyone should leave, but it is a model the gov't should encourage rather than discourage - train medical personnel for export. Charge them higher tuition fees, improve the standard and push for them to work abroad and send remittances.

I know you know already but lemme tell you the difference, you see those countries Nigerians run to, they are smart, if you study in some of those countries and still pay those high exorbitant fees, you are given a work permit, you know what happens next, you as a foreigner works like a horse and pay Tax.... now dont think its 10 percent tax or 15%, no it progressive, I.e the more the work the more tax they pay.

So Nigerian government should create a conducive atmosphere for working and people wont think of leaving. So if you think any body is really happy leaving a prestigious position in Nigeria to go start as a low level in wherever then think again. 🤔
