Na lie ooo. You literally just contradicted yourself. Maduka Okoye has been trusted in a major tournamet. He was trusted at Afcon 2021 and we fell.

And omo ehn, E vex me as Akin go afcon no see 1 minute play. As a young player it slows momentum but it is hard getting back your place especially as a young loanee. Pisa coaches dey exact their revenge naa. Akin was a starter pre-afcon but now, post afcon, the coaches no gree am. Also, Gilardino, the man who was starting Akin and later began benching him post afcon was fired after the Inter thrashing and replaced. The current coach has played 5 games winning none and used Akin only once!

Akin had a fine first half of the season but this second half, his gametime is suffering. Uche same thing but thank God he will return to Getafe and dorn that #10 shirt and ball like we know hin to again. And na why I dey scream for Nnadi matter at Marseille. I need these lads playing. Chelle no try for Akin matter at all at Afcon.

Papi85:
he really haven’t been trusted to man the team’s goal in major tournaments

I think the only one he has been to as the team’s number 1 was the Afcon Eguavoen coached the team that they were ousted by Tunisia.

How far Akinsanmiro? E be like bobo come back from Afcon Pisa coach no gree play am anymore?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m):
Maduka Okoye has faced 13 penalties in Serie A between 2023-24 season and 2025/26 season and saved only once.
This season alone he has faced 6 and saved one vs Bologna in November.

Nwabali's Penalty expertise even in high pressure games need not be emphasized. But for the records he faced 4 pens this season at Chippa and saved 2 before he ended his contract.
At the recent Afcon, he faced 9 penalties in the Shootouts across 2 games and saved 3.

At last Afcon, we know what he did as per penalties as well. And even vs DRC.

Arthur Okonkwo is a decent mention for penalties alone but still far from the level of Nwabali for the moment. Saved a penalty already this season and also saved while in League one or two within the last seasons.

Philosopher1979:
Stanly Nwabili. He is good at penalties.
The other keepers can keep in other matches but not
in a nations cup final where a lot is at stake.
As per Maduka Okoye i do not know if he is good in penalties or not.
The other keepers have time to develop anyway.
However, this is a must win match

I feel like if Maduka can come through a high stakes Super Eagles game unscathed, then we will see him become the monster GK he can be but until that happens, I dont think anyone will be 100% absolutely confident in him manning the goal.

do4luv14:
Nwabali had paid his dues no doubts about that

But for me , Maduka OKOYE, Bros be giving me a Vinny vibes 😎😎😎

qatar is there to take iraq spot. Still remains iran's case which is not final and now quite dicey at the moment. While their sport minister has said they will not participate, they have announced on their ig page that nobody can deny them access to the world cup apart from FIFA so its not clear if they still want to come or leave.
Qatar has qualify already for the world cup in June

Retired Joel obi has far more career minutes than Bazee who is still playing even now for Bielefeld in Bundesliga 2. The gap too much. So Obi's legs still better pass Bazee's plastic legs.

do4luv14:
If Bazee had plastic legs,
Then Joel Obi had sand legs,😁😁😁

A simple trivia... GKs wars: Trust and reliability

The Super Eagles are in the final of the 2027 Afcon and will inevitably end that game in penalties shootout. Question is which Goalkeeper do you absolutely trust to man the goal even into penalty shootouts?

Option A. Maduka Okoye

Option B. Arthur Okonkwo

Option C. Francis Uzoho

Option D. Amas Obasogie

Option E. Stanley Nwabali

i don't think that single tournament should make us write off Maduka. Maduka is a top goalkeeper and he has prove that in a top5 league against quality strikers. I do feel for the youngman, a victim of circumstance. I love you still believe he's a better goalkeeper to Nwabali. Though Nwabali has the confidence and support of Nigerians going for him now.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by lexyman(m): 8:19pm On Mar 13
Even a match-rusty Stanley Nwabali can be more dependable than a fully fit Maduka Okoye. In terms of mentality and composure, Nwabali clearly has the edge. you want buy am ? grin
He stands out in key goalkeeping qualities which we all know :
Timing
Positioning
Decision-making under pressure
Communication with defenders
In a high-profile match, I would choose Nwabali because he has repeatedly shown that he can come through when it matters most — especially if the game goes to a penalty shootout. He has been tested on many occasions and has delivered.
I also hope Okoye overcomes the stage fright and nervous moments, because his talent is undeniable and Nigerian football benefits from strong competition in goal.

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m):
Oh no, not writing him off but just stating current and historical facts. The day Okoye Maduka give us really solid performances in goal and even shows up in a high stakes game, then yes, he will win all over easily.
Also, being in a top 5 league is not automatic ticket to the #1 position of the Super Eagles. Okoye was in the Team wayyy before Nwabali came in around 2024. Okoye kept goal for most of the 2022 WC Group stage qualifying games yet he could not even cement that shirt Post-Afcon 2021. Uzoho took it back for a brief period before providence made Jpes bring in Nwabali and the rest is history.

Stop catching cruise.

Nwabali vs Okoye is not up for debate.

It's only two people that can let Okoye man our post where Nwabali is fit if you allow them, only Kriskel and Charles.

The only problem Nwabali has is his childish antics
