Who Still Remembers How To Solve This T Section Taught In Primary School by guobe(op): 7:39am On Mar 14
One of the most difficult mathematical questions in primary school was finding the perimeter and area of a T sectional object.
Who can solve this.

Re: Who Still Remembers How To Solve This T Section Taught In Primary School by franchasng: 8:42am On Mar 14
13. Answer is 19cm² na.

The area of a rectangle = L x W

There are two rectangles there with:

Rectangle 1 having dimension: 6 x 2

Rectangle 2 having dimension: 3.5 x 2

Area of rectangle 1 = 6 x 2 = 12cm²

Area of rectangle 2 = 3.5 x 2 = 7cm²

Area of the diagram = area of rectangle 2 + area of rectangle 2 = 12cm² + 7cm² = 19cm²

This is very simple to solve

How did you calculate the area and also how do you calculate the perimeter
Re: Who Still Remembers How To Solve This T Section Taught In Primary School by franchasofficia: 8:59am On Mar 14
There are two rectangles in the diagram.

Rectangle 1 have a dimension of:

6cm x 2cm

Rectangle 2 have a dimension of:

3.5cm x 2cm

Area of rectangle is L x W. Find the area of the two separate rectangles and sum them together to get the area of the diagram.

Area of a rectangle is L x W.

Perimeter is L plus W plus L plus W

Re: Who Still Remembers How To Solve This T Section Taught In Primary School by ImpeccableDust:
First rectangle is L×W

6*2= 12

Second one is

3.5*2 = 7

Area of the T-shape = addition of the two rectangles forming the T

= 12 + 7

19cm

Spot on.

The Sec School I went to, if you didn't pass Mathematics from SS1 upwards you will be repeated, I didn't know maths, wished I knew but I still passed. Till date I didn't know how I did it. For the records it's Mayflower School at Ikenne.

Just break it into 2 rectangles, find the area of each, and add.

The perimeter is the sum of all outside lengths.

The area is (6 * 2) + (3.5 * 2)
= 12 + 7
= 19 cm².

The perimeter is (6 * 2) + (2 * 2) + (3.5 * 2)
= 12 + 4 + 7
= 23 cm.

Nothing is difficult there. Separate them into 2 different shapes and find the Area or perimeter.

Looks simple now, but was a big headache back then. Thank God it won't be a big deal for my kids. Daddy understands it perfectly now 😂 😂 😂 😂

It was like that too at OGSA, the only school in Akure, ondo state

I cant solve any mathematics, I eventually became a Linguist, theres something in Linguistics called Schema, it is actually mathematics in artistic form...

Do you understand?

i rep Oyemekun Grammar School, UP SCHOOL, THE ONLY SCHOOL.... OGSA
