I don tire o,even handsome Ekong got the bashing and he retired but cuz Okoye is good looking we shouldn't criticizes him....do we say those criticizing Nwabali are doing so cuz he is not handsome?

Osaze Odemwingie, Mikel Obi, and even Haruna Ilerika in 1976 have had their fair share of admiration from Ladies. It is not new. Maduka is not the first and wont be the last. It is social media of this era that amplified his own.

So centrally, nothing concern Naija fans with ladies admiring fine footballers in the Super Eagles or anywhere else. It is normal. Anyone taking a jab at Okoye for bad performance and cite his looks did so on their own accord, people say anything to footballers. A lot of things. But picking a few comments and trying to paint it as the general view of fans on Okoye's Super Eagles showings is incorrect. The criticism was centrally from a footballing angle. Social media can be very selectively and narrowly narrative coz like Kog45 said... Nwabali was also heavily criticised at a point, same as Uzoho after that Ghana Gaffe that cost us the World Cup ticket. Uzoho fine pass Okoye?? Then why was his criticism enormous? All this good looks talk is gas lighting.

Cecco90:
I think he is right Sir.
During that AFCON, he was adored by female fans only for him to make that "costly mistake" against Tunisia. Whereupon, fans turned against him saying he had the looks but no goalkeeping skills.
Were it to be another goalkeeper (like Obasogie) making a similar mistake (which is actually the first), the criticism won't have been that much.

Though, I will pick Nwabali over Okoye anytime anyday.

No caps at emboldened... if na by good looks, the finest is not Okoye, not even close.

Kog45:
So Francis Uzoho that was heavily criticized is a very good looking man abi... Nwabali that was criticized prior to Afcon is a fine man abi...wetin concern Nigeria fans with female folks liking a player, you perform on the pitch or you get out....if na good look Awaziem would be starting for us...all those ladies admiring Okoye during Afcon na just PR...hope you don see Awaziem,Semi Ajayi and Odion Ighalo wella

Peep the subtle shift from "female fans" to "fans".

You know what you're doing.

Okoye fans na. They shifted discussions intentionally from performances and the fact he is not the first Light skinned fine boy in the team to "Na Okoye fine pass". Classic digression coz they have no points from a Super Eagles Performance angle.

When I saw the Osimhen goal notification, I went to check Trabzonspor's game and saw that Onuachu has also scored.

I am tired of that tallie. grin He is determined not to be caught up by the Monster machine. Onuachu on 21 now, Osimhen moves into 21's mirror number 12. grin

Don't be to emotional about this, it's just a debate which you drop. You don't expect everyone to go for one person. ☺️
Let's be real, Maduka had a good look (not light skin), that drove so many female fans crazy. His look and physique was a talking point in that Afcon which none of Osaze (another sweet boy) or Abbey (nothing special 😂) had.
Gabriel Alert! grin
How did facial appearance suddenly become a quality considered when selecting or judging a goalkeeper?

Goalkeeping has always been about competence — positioning, reflexes, decision-making, communication, courage, and mental strength under pressure — not facial looks or aesthetics. @Zicky

A goalkeeper’s value should be measured by:

Command of the penalty area
Shot-stopping ability
Composure in big moments
Leadership and organization of the defence
Football history has shown repeatedly that greatness in goal is defined by performance, not appearance. Legends earned their place through consistency and reliability, not image.
The conversation should always return to football qualities, because confidence between defenders and their goalkeeper is built on trust in ability — not how a player looks.

i don dey tire to dey read wetin you dey write concerning Okoye ...... abi you be gay ? even if you be gay ,that one still no qualify Okoye to be no . 1 until he earns the shirt . by performance ,. not good looks

Was Uzoho and Nwabali heavily criticized (as much as Maduka) when they made their first mistake?. That's the question.

OIt depends on what are your factors in determining good looking man,if you said it's Okoye, it's your opinion but I will pick Carl Ikeme, facially he is more good looking than Okoye but talking height then Okoye Maduka....comot Nwabali head and put Semi Ajayi own would you tell me Okoye is well built than Nwabali?😁
now you get the point, same way I can pick Maduka as my choice of goalkeeper base on my own criteria without you guys referring to me as dishonest. Life is about diverse view.

Oga forget all these pics...Okoye is good looking no doubt, but telling us his good look was the major reason he was criticized after Tunisia match,no baba
don't misqoute me uncle just to score a point I never said major. From my screenshot you could still see some comments about his looks which was the point I was making, some fans were more focus on his look than his actual performance on the field. If you guys are not in that bracket then it shouldn't be an issue.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by zicky(m): 8:33pm On Mar 14
TheSuperNerd:
Saying Okoye is more good looking is an opinion coz Beauty is a subjective topic. You find Okoye more handsome. No problem, some prefer Semi Ajayi or Bassey. Many rate Carl Ikeme and Osaze. Infact Osaze had his fair share of ladies fawning over him. Even Mikel Obi.

But on performances, Okoye does not hold a candle to Ikeme in the Super Eagles.

Also, again this is Ikeme below.... stop nitpicking pics that dont do him Justice.

And dont use this childish "Okoye is finer than all mankind" angle to digress from the central point... We have had fine men like Osaze, Abbey and Ikeme come into the Super Eagles and they did not need their "good looks" to defend them, they spoke on the pitch in the GWG... Let Okoye do same coz so far he has been rubbish for us even when he was handed the #1 shirt for two major campaigns. He still has a chance to carve his own Super Eagles legacy, so let him. Finito.
You are still blabbing, fan made reference to his looks more even before his performance at Afcon. And I'm saying I feel it was part of the factor that made them come for him after his supposed bad performance against Tunisia. You can make of it whatever you want.

Maduka is the first choice of Udinese, a club in the top league.
He has mount the post against top team, even after his suspension, he still came to reclaim his 1st position and you want me to believe he's a mediocre goalkeeper.
Me bringing up his looks was because of comments I saw online after the 2021 Afcon. So his looks was never an issue to me, but guys can see whatever you choose to.

Maybe Okoye could have done better with that shot but the fine boy thing on social media (Before Tunisia match) did not help his cause.
