Thank you for sharing. May God return all that was lost to the sad incident.

Sorry to hear about your loss, may the Lord restore back to you in multiple folds all that is taken from you.

I am interesting in how OPay/easy money transfer the loan to the number they transfer money to from your account.

What do you tell them? What do you present as evidence? And what questions do they ask before doing that?

maclatunji:
Ok, private vehicles are best avoided. We thank God on your behalf.

Grace! Divine Grace bro! Some of us have it even when we don't even know how.
Thank God🙏
Thank you Jesus🙏

If he never do am mean say he no really drive he keke for night.

I don't know why I have never been a victim of one chance, scam or anything even though I have embarked on numerous journeys at odd hours.

I remember when I was into rice business, I'd travel from East to North East and north West for paddy rice.

I have been in one of the bush market in Taraba, immediately I left for my hotel, the market was attacked by bandits in broad daylight.

Bro, thank God for your life.

But one lesson everyone should learn from this your story is to always have a back up, hidden far away.

Oya let's assume you didn't hide that #200 very far, what could you have done?

But then again,if you had done transportation work before, you'd realize that one thing. During my years as a Keke rider,I came across several passengers , especially women who wouldn't board a Keke that has only men as passengers. Perhaps, for security reasons cuz of stories like this which they must had heard or their own passed personal experiences.
You nailed it bro. I have have this habit of keeping change I collected from drivers in my pocket instead of tucking it into my wallet. This habit saved me one day, around Itire axis. My wallet mistakenly fell inside korope. But the change I have in my pocket was what transported me home if not I would have turn to beggar that day. And my phone was off. The sweetest part was that the passenger who found the wallet in the korope gave it to the driver and instructed the driver to get in touch with the owner and return it. Thank God my business cards were in my wallet. The driver called and returned.

Not a guarantee either. Even women dey follow them to make the setup look more legitimate. How many times have we seen these ribbers paraded by police and the criminals includes women.

The part where they "poured plenty robb for your eyes" actually made me laugh besides myself. They did it to prevent your wicked🙂 eyes from catching their plate number.

Please learn from my experience.

On tuesday 10th of this month, I woke and prepared for work as usual and because my workplace is on the island, i wake up as early as 5am and go to work. So on this sad tuesday, I got to the bus stop, a private car stopped and there were 4 guys inside (driver, passenger seat, 2 at the back seat) then i joined them to be 3 at the back seat and i was by the window side.

As the car moved on, suddenly the man in the middle just jump on me and the other guy held my hand, as i was struggling, i heard "we go shoot you oo", so i calm down. Then it dawn on me that i have entered one chance. They were slapped me several times and collected my phone, i gave them my opay password and phone password. They also took all the cash on me except for 200 naira that was deep deep in my pocket.

So they brought my phone to my face to do face verification as OPAY security requires and i did it. They also asked for my laptop and i told them that i am a security man ( grin), i had 15600 in my opay. They also asked for my ATM, i told them i dont use an ATM (this is true).

Then they told me to close my eyes and they poured plenty rob on my eyes then push me out of the car. I struggled to open my eyes until one Aboki guy helped me water then i could be able see.

So i jejely use the 200 in my pocket and went home. I had to use my neighbour phone to call opay and gtb to block my account.

That same day, i went to retrieve my line at mtn office at ikoyi but now, i am so phoneless and the trauma is really taking a toll on me.

Also, i had to log in to my opay through my brothers phone and i realised that they did not take my money but instead borrow a loan of 140k. So in total, it was 156500 (16500 + 140000) then i went to check the transfer history to see that they borrowed a loan. So when i noticed this, i had to message easemoni customer service and explained to them, they were so helpful. I transferred the loan amount to their account and my loan was cleared.

This is a true life story and it definitely happened to me cry

I don't understand ...you said they borrowed money from.your opay account ? How did you now transfer tje money back to ease moni... did you have to borrow from.s9meone to repay the loan thst criminals took with your account ?

Entering private vehicle in Lagos is a big risk.. except a bolt or uber ride you booked yourself. All the same, thank God you weren't hurt. The ones in Abuja na 'odaju' dem be.

It is confusing because he said he lost 156500 (16500 + 140000).
Besides, WHY would they leave money in his account??
Same shock I had when I logged in. But I guessed dey wanted to take loan and withdraw all at once...but with okay face ID for transfer , I guess they couldn't

They took the loan with me okay. But they could not transfer it coz of face verification for opay.

I only lost my phone and cash with me

Hmmm! I can imagine the pain. Thank God for your life. Lagos is filled with so many criminals. I ensure I don’t get pushed for any reason to the extent of not having the time to do my due diligence. And for private cars in Lagos, I see this happening a lot ladies when returning home from work jump in private cars as if they know the driver.

Perhaps what gives them the confidence is because it’s afternoon thinking nobody could harm them at a broad day light.
I know that God factor is involved in everything we do , but one needs to calculate and act based on one’s environment.
Why would anyone even think of entering a private car in a place like Lagos, even Abeokuta.

A place like Ife Osun State, you can do that but not in environments filled with all manners of hoodlums.

Then in a place like Lagos , once you step out , you don’t have any friend. If anyone tries to help you use your sense and if something feels oddly and doesn’t seat well with you , take firm decision and stay selfish. Even in Korope, I stop and alight if I feel uncomfortable. I simply tell the driver I left one important item at home.

When returning home ladies do it for same reason people jump on airplanes despite plane crashes - because 99.99% of the time nothing happens.
Same reason oloshos will jump in a total stanger's car with total confidence!

EVEN AS A MAN, I CAN NEVER ENTER ANY BUS THAT IS JUST MEN ONLY, PRIVATE CAR IS NOW A NO - NO FOR ME.

NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY LADIES DONT WANT TO ENTER A CAR OR BUS FILLED WITH JUST MEN, I REALLY UNDERSTAND.
Keep avoiding...
One day you'll enter one because,,, not only because there was a woman inside bus but because you saw a pregnant or old grandma and enter, then it will be too late when you realize you entered one chance grin

Those people are smarter than you and thinks ahead of you in changing strategy to deceive you grin

Sorry bro.
In 2014 or 2015, I was going to Ilorin from Ife.
I want to take sole. I saw a vehicle going to Ilorin with all the seat full of men.
I stopped the vehicle but as I saw that all were full men, I said I am not going anymore lolz.
Some of them even laughed 😅 🤣

My uncle told me this recently and thought he was being paranoid. Though it's all these cars going to the island though.
