This thread is dedicated to tracking the ongoing military conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which began on February 28, 2026. Please use this space to share the latest news updates, verified reports, and geopolitical analysis. Key Developments (as of March 15, 2026): Outbreak and Leadership: The war started with joint US and Israeli strikes on Iran, one of which killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He has since been succeeded by his son, Mojtaba Khamenei. Military Escalation: The US and Israel have executed thousands of strikes across Iran, recently targeting military and air defense installations on Kharg Island, Iran's main oil export hub. Iran and its allied proxy groups in Lebanon and Iraq have launched waves of retaliatory ballistic missiles and drones at Israel and US bases throughout the region. Regional Impact & Nigerian Casualties: Gulf states hosting US bases are caught in the crossfire. The UAE Ministry of Defence reported that 141 foreign nationals, including Nigerians residing in the UAE, have been injured by debris and Iranian strikes. Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have also had to intercept dozens of projectiles. Global Economy: Iran has effectively closed the Strait of Hormuz to hostile nations. Keeping everything in one place is definitely the move. Our front page is getting completely buried by the war coverage, which feels like a distraction from what’s actually happening here in Nigeria. Even though we’re feeling the ripple effects, we shouldn't follow the lead of the core North—where people are out protesting a foreign war while ignoring the violence in their own backyards. Iran should not have a nuclear weapon... If they must, they have to follow the footsteps of their brothers in Pakistan, A fellow Muslim nation. Is Pakistan shouting "death to America" and "death to Israel"? NO!. They can't keep threatening the lives of millions and expect those nations to stand idly by. Seun. You will dedicate a thread on Iran vs Isreal and not one for the attacks and kilings happening all over your country of birth, Nigeria? We have had more deaths in Nigeria than these two warring nations combined and Nigeria isn't at war o. Okay o. All I see here is people sentimentaly taking sides with countries based on their religious beliefs. The Muslims are siding with Iran. The Christians are siding with USA and Isreal. So, what kind of discussion do we want to have ? Religious debate isn't an easy one.
