ehiremen2002:Hello Sir/Ma. I want to start doing deep research about coming to Canada through study route. But before I start, I’ll like to know if you still advise coming to Canada in 2026/2027 please. I have B.Sc Business Administration, recent graduate with only NYSC work experience. Trying to pursue a career in Finance in Canada through Msc Finance. Thank you. |

I always advise people not to rely on working 24 hours per week to cover their school fees. It’s not realistic, and a lot depends on luck—especially when you first arrive in Canada. Some people spend up to 3 months searching for a job without success. When I first arrived a few years ago, I landed in Regina. It wasn’t too difficult back then, but things have changed now. I’ve since moved, but I still have friends and family there. The situation in Ottawa is quite similar. For example, I have a family friend who recently moved to Regina—it took them about 3–4 months to secure a job. Keep in mind that as a student, you’re limited to 24 hours of work per week during the school term. Based on people I know, students typically earn around $250–$300 biweekly, depending on the type of job. That’s roughly $500–$800 per month if you’re consistently working. Even at that, it’s usually not enough to cover rent, let alone tuition fees. My honest advice is this: student jobs can help you survive—covering basic expenses like rent and food if you’re hardworking—but you should plan to have enough funds for at least the first few months while you settle in. Everyone’s situation is different, but relying on part-time work to pay tuition is very risky. coolflame7: |

I have opened TD GIC for Proof of Funds from Nigeria, sent the details to my in-law in Canada to fund it and he has funded it with $40kCAD, my sister his wife supposed to be my sponsor since we bear the same surname but unfortunately she recently came to Canada and hasn't gotten her work permit(she's not working). My tuition fee is $28k, my sis has paid10k deposit already from her account. How will I prove relationship with this my in-law since we are not related by blood. He his ever willing to sponsor me. |

coolflame7:Is it realistically possible to work while in Canada and pay up the remaining tuition. No I wanted to explain this properly with numbers, facts, and even links if needed showing how many hours you are legally allowed to work, how much you actually earn after taxes, and the reality of expenses. I could even break down the math. But honestly, I don’t bother anymore. No matter what you say, someone will always respond with, I have a friend who paid over CAD 40,000 for their program just by working while studying in Canada At that point, I just laugh and tell them to do whatever they want. People have called me a Madman because what I say but at the end of the day it all makes sense The truth is, many people think they know better, and I don’t sugarcoat facts to protect feelings. When you actually look at the numbers, they simply don’t add up. At the end of the day, it’s not realistically possible to fully pay your school fees just by working while studying. you can pay rent you can pay phone bill you can pay for food but you see that your school fees you can not........... All the best. |

Chigbo55:I hope you didn't put the remaining part of your tuition fee in the GIC else you will regret it. |

amnotapervert:Always here to discourage people. The other member you were telling him to tell his sister to book the next ticket to MMA1. @coolflame7 yes you can work to pay your tuition fee if; 1. you are not the lavishing type. 2. you work multiple jobs 3. You utilize the holidays (students work full time during holidays/breaks) 4. you have a special skill or services u can render within and outside the school campus for a fee |
| Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 23 by Anonymous8: 4:46pm On Mar 17 |
Honestly it's not realistic to plan to pay your tuition with part time jobs. It's not even easy to get a job first of all. |

AbelAbdul:@coolflame7 yes you can work to pay your tuition fee if; 1. you are not the lavishing type. As a student with example Ontario's general minimum wage at $17.60 per hour and renting a single room in Ontario typically ranges from $700 to $1,500 per month. 2. you work multiple jobs. Legally you are only allowed to work 24 hours a week during school Terms 3. You utilize the holidays (students work full time during holidays/breaks) hahahah make I no talk self when you do not know the youth unemployment rate for the last 5 years 4. you have a special skill or services u can render within and outside the school campus for a fee. Hahahahahahah Cash job?? make CRA no catch you ooo |

amnotapervert:I know 3 single students who paid their school fees with part time jobs, full time when college is on brake... But this students did only 1 year college program 18k tuition fees ,house rent of about 500 for one room apartment per month.. 2 have completed the course working in demand occupation and already got pgwp waiting for ita in pnp nominations... The other one has manuerverd her way to pnp nominations and have applied for permanent residence she is healthcare practioner back home..she pay upto 1k for 2 rooms apartment but rent the other room out.. The problem is when students apply for 3 to 4 year program in big expensive cities like ontario and expecting to pay tuition fees with part time jobs . However I know other student who couldn't get a job or even pay tuition fees with part time jobs or maintain the study permit and they dropped out.. |

Predator188:I always say someone will tell me they know one or 2 people that have done it and today they are PR or citizens with a big house and a fat bank account hahahahahhahahah... but that's not the realistic position in 2026 |

Im in new brunswick. With my own personal experience and seeing my classmates, so many dont have jobs and the ones that have it took time. So being REALISTIC, dont plan to pay tuition with part time, find a way to raise the money before you come. Predator188: |

amnotapervert:stop discouraging people on this forum. Na because people no patronize ur agents. @coolflame7 have money that will take care of your feeding and housing for the first 3 months. from the 4th month you should get a job unless you are lazy and can't network. |

amnotapervert:If I may ask!! is one or 2 people a big number out of thousands of students.. I am not encouraging students to hope on part time work to pay tuition, even though that some lucky ones did it and got away with it.. This is not about 2026,things are even getting easier in canada in 2026 than 2024 and 2025 since immigration started reigning on temporary residents that is students and workers intake.. |

Predator188:Ontario has big cities like Toronto and the likes. No big city is cheap anywhere in the world. What I was trying to say is that Ontario is a province not a city. |
