Actors on the other hand are given a script to act within a defined period, paid for it and that's that.

And that's why you see civil servants wanting to steal in one way or the other while in service because after service you are on your own.

All of these characters came from Ikebe Super, which was a magazine that Wale Adenuga published in the 1970s. They existed before the actors started acting in the roles.

A movie was made in the 1980s and then the TV series began in the late 1990s.

Remember that Wale Adenuga sacked Abiodun Ayoyinka in the 2000s because he and some of the other cast members went to put on a Papa Ajasco show in Port-Harcourt without permission from Wale Adenuga. Femi Ogunrombi took over the role for a while.

Basically Wale Adenuga created the character long before these actors began playing the part and he is the copyright holder.

I remember that sacking incident from years back. I think they later reconciled and he resumed the role. I also recall not been impressed by Femi Ogunrobi's portrayal of the character.

Wale Adenuga is the copyright owner as you have rightly pointed out and the law is not emotional. He was being paid 45,000 per episode when the value of naira was way higher than it is now. He has no one to blame except himself for not utilising his fame to the best of his advantage.

And this is part of the lack of proper management we are talking about. If he had tried to do this and Wale Adenuga refused, that would have been a different matter, but based on the narrative it seems no such effort was made.

We need to be realistic here, Civil servant remains the poorest in this country except the ones with deals or runs. WAP claims, he (Papa Ajasco) worked and he was paid him but never mentioned how much and if the pay was reviewed in accordance with the economic reality. WAP mentioned other artist that worked for him, all the people he mentioned are living below average level while working for him, I have seen many of this guys on the street, trekking and looking tattered. The fact is if someone has been dedicated, honest and loyal to enrich and lift your brand, look beyond the peanut wages. Be kind please, don't just use people and dump them all in the name of at least I paid him wages.

Say you create a character who is a pastor pastor do good . You have a series featuring pastor do good and it becomes very popular.

Then the actor for the pastor decides to perform in a advert for condoms. It features casual sex with multiple partners.

Next thing you see is people on social media talk in about that immoral TV show with the ashewo pastor do good.

It is not just about money, it is about protecting your brand.

Over 20 years ago someone made a mario parody po-rn movie. Making parodies is legal so Nintendo which is presents itself as a family oriented brand bought the rights to the movie and proceeded to hunt down and destroy every copy of every video tape of the movie. Because they are not an adult entertainment company and their mascots are family friendly.

For Abiodun Ayoyinka (not papa ajasco) papa ajasco is a hustle. For WAP it is his personal creation.

Oh... No no. You misunderstood me, atleast. Note one's financial struggles doesn't always mean it was caused by irresponsible character.

It could have easily been as a result of investments that didn't turn out as expected. Or not planning far ahead on how to keep expenditure (family, and living expense) way lower than income.

how uch gratiuty do they pay. the problem with people like you is that you all overthink yourself and you assume too much in your head and it is people like you that fall for this kind of trap wich this papa Ajasco fell for. Gratuity may not be more than N4-N5M naira. what can that amount do after 35 years of service. No wonder most civil servenats steals before they are retired.

So he was earning from multiple streams.

What did he do with the funds?
There are civil servants who lived on only their salaries and yet never complained or cried.

He probably made bad investment choices or squandered the money.

And do you know the number of civil servets who are very corrupt. So corruption is the way of life now. there are many civil servents who are building houses everywhere and training their kids abroad and you will conclude that they are reling on their salaries.
