You cannot pay your school fees working 24hrs per pay period. 40hrs yes! But as a student you are limited to 24hrs. I had friends that paid their school fees by themselves but, that was when they allowed students work 40hrs. I myself benefited from it. So when you are coming dont have it in mind that you are coming to work to pay your fee. Jobs are extremely hard to get now, it took some almost 1 year to get. |

He won't. The GIC account will only hold 22,895 CAD. The remaining money will be in your normal account, which is accessible to you when you get to CA and have a student permit. God forbid admission doesn't come through, the bank will return the money the same way it came plus interest. AbelAbdul: |

AbelAbdul:You keep mixing things up. Yes, Coolflame7 will get a job, but donot rely on that job to pay school fees. Phone bills, rent, transportation, and food yes. But not school fees. The numbers don’t lie. |

ifeanyija:Easy without kids!!Another hard ball game with kids who are not Canadians and are infants or between 4years,and with cities in shortage of day care i wonder how the student will run up and down with studies and kids +24 hours job,and without the kids interrupting the work permit holder job also.. You will spend on food and housing without paying full amount of school fees,if you have poor schedule plan and will go to that foreign account and withdraw funds to support... |

Predator188:Hahahah the day you stop the mindset to think anything is free is the day you will grow as a person Nothing is free. The government, the school anyone who tells you something is free...you are paying for it more than you realize. Take the bus pass, for example. You might pay around $120 for a 4-month term in a small city. You can always check your fee breakdown. Some days, you will need to be somewhere on time, so you will use an Uber...like going to a job after class. You can not wait for the bus if it’s too slow, so you will need a ride. An Uber can easily cost $30 $40 for a quick 20–30 minute trip. That’s part of what your job income will go toward. Also, in smaller cities, some jobs arenot well connected by public transit. You might take a bus part of the way and then use Uber to finish the trip. so I am confident in what I am saying..... |

amnotapervert:Are you talking from your own experience!! From what i know monthly bus for adults is 102 dollars per month and post secondary is 65 dollars per month, school charge 55 dollars per term for bus pass and one term is 4 months do the math... If you plan your schedule with your job and school you will not spend 30 to 40 dollars on uber, get a job schedule that give you enough time after classes .. |

Albertone:If you are coming to Canada, please do not be discouraged. The main thing to keep in mind is that nothing ( work and PR) is guaranteed or promised. Having low expectations is the key to staying realistic and happy. You should also understand that you need to plan your life after school even before you start applying for admission. Think about which province you will stay in, what type of job you can get after school, and whether the school you are applying to is registered as a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) so that you can be eligible for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/designated-learning-institutions-list.html Consider how many points you might have after studying and working in Canada and whether that is enough for you to qualify for permanent residency. Check if your course and job fall into categories that make it easier to get PR https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/rounds-invitations/category-based-selection.html You need to know all this before you even apply for a school. Also, think about whether your course can lead to a job in the province you are targeting, and whether it could help you qualify for a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) after studying and working there. Remember: immigration rules are always changing, and nothing is guaranteed. Planning carefully and being realistic is essential.

Good day everyone, I need some clarification please from those who understand Canada PR pathways. I graduated around 2024 and completed my NYSC from January 2025 to January 2026 (as stated on my certificate). During my NYSC, I worked as a teacher. I was not paid by the school, but I received the monthly allowance from the Federal Government. I have applied to schools in Canada. One placed me on a waitlist, while the other (Sheridan College – Supply Chain Management, Logistics Automation) has offered me admission. If everything goes well with my visa, I should be in Canada by around August 2026. My concern is this: From the time I graduated up till when I move to Canada, the only work experience I have is my NYSC. I plan to write CELPIP and also take a French test by January 2027 to improve my profile for Express Entry. Please, I want to ask: 1. Can NYSC experience (as a teacher) be counted as valid work experience for Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) under Express Entry? 2. Does it matter that I was not paid directly by the school, but only received the Federal Government allowance? 3. Will this type of experience be accepted by IRCC? I would really appreciate guidance from those who have gone through this or have accurate information. Thank you very much. |

Mrdos:IMO, you are already in a good position, but adding her as support is a strong extra step. She can explain that you have the financial means to take care of yourself through money you have earned and saved from your business. She should also state that, in case of any emergency expenses outside what you have budgeted, she is willing and capable of assisting you, as your sister who has your best interests at heart. She should include supporting documents such as her employment letter, tax returns, and proof of residency (e.g., ILR or a British passport). You can also include your parents’ IDs ( with family name on it or even her birth certificate to show its same parents) to help establish the family relationship and confirm that she is indeed your sister. It would strengthen the application if she mentions that she has supported you in the past during emergencies, while still making it clear that you are financially independent and able to support yourself. This approach makes the case appear genuine and well-structured. Based on your situation, you already have a strong case...you just need the right documentation and a clear explanation from her. All the best. |

Predator188:The last time I used the bus as a student was in 2018, so I have no idea about today’s prices. I am not talking about go bus or go train.... If you plan your schedule around your job and school, you won’t end up spending $30–$40 on Uber. ![]() Hahaha! students in Kingsville, Wheatley, Chatham-Kent, and Essex and Windsor, Ontario, go look for Factory /Farm jobs in Leamington, Ontario. If you donot have a car, it’s Uber or a shared bus ride to the job. See? Anyone can do whatever they want. Remember, I am a mad man, and anyone who takes words from a mad man seriously is… well, crazy! Hahaha. |

AbelAbdul:Hahahahahah hahahahahahaha an exception is not the regular case well what do I know about anything You know not everyone from Nigeria came the same way you did. I came with my full rent it was cheap ($400/ Month) in 2017/2018 for two years and my school fees paid for two years, so I only needed to work after school. and the money I made from working was used to buy my first car cash after school when I got my first Job I also had a brother and a sister who were both working full-time In Toronto before I finished school. I understand that this isn’t the reality for most people, but still…believe anything you want to believe |

The summary of it all is that your NYSC work experience does not count. Except you make it a proper work, also you will need 3 years woeking experience to qualify, this will give you a good point. Mojixxee: |

Dont assume all schools give free bus pass, my school does not, all you can get is a student discount. I will never doscourage anyone from coming to Canada, please come, but plan your finances properly to save yourself some stress and anxiety. I got here last year and I know the amount of stress I had to deal with, luckily I paid all my fees before I even landed. Predator188:
