If this type of supervision is done on daily basis, then the criminals in police uniforms will be kicked out.

Bribery and corruption has been so institutionalized in the country till the extent that you can hardly find someone that isn't involved one way or another.......the most annoying part is they do it without any fear or shame knowing fully well that whom they call leaders are already leading well in that regard.
Re: Police Officer In Aba Caught In Extortion, Told To Empty His Pockets. by SeeWahala:
This is exactly 💯 what all these useless police and army 🪖 like doing in the south east with their over 2000 checkpoints at every 3 kilometre mark on the roads undecided

Later the army will start running propaganda against Igbos by showing us fake bombs and claiming they arrested people who are blowing up places just to paint the south east as being unsafe cry

Imagine . . . A country's security apparatus conniving with the ruling party to throw their hardworking citizens under the bus just to keep their United national big8try alive and kicking cool

Big thief catch small thief

Did anyone hear where the voice behind the scene said "if you want to collect money, Park motor, protect your face take the person to the station..."

If they are really serious about stopping this police extortion, just use this same tactics, catch some & set example with them. & others will stop.

But then, some ogas on top want the extortion to continue because they receive their own share of the loot.

At the end of the day you still find a way to blame the so called leaders when you said yourself that everyone is corrupt.
The real problem is Nigeria is that almost everyone is corrupt but they don't see their own corruption ad the problem. They see others as the problem.
A civil servant who is taking bribe to do his or her job doesn't think that they are part of the problem. They only view the leaders as thr problem, if fact such people will be complaining that the country is bad because of bad leadership while they are demanding bribe to do a job for which they are getting paid .
In countries where things work and less corruption, the average workers will.do their job and not expect anything in return. A lot of these workers are not rich by any standards, in fact some are struggling and barely surviving but they will not use that excuse to steal or collect bribe. A Nigerian in a good job, making good money is still going to steal. Even Nigerians abroad making good money are still prone to fraud. What does that tell you about the average Nigerian?
So the problem in Nigeria is the citizens but until we accept that, we are just wasting time.

The police officer asking him to drop the money is not tackling te root of the problem. Let him approach the DPO and let Instructions be given from above. This corporal he’s humiliating is following orders from his boss.
Meanwhile, what will happen to the money he dropped on his car?

Let ALL Police commissioners condemn this act, and watch it stop

Not really, the officers with criminal energy will devise a better way to continue their criminality. You will be amazed the energy people put into doing illegal stuffs.

It is quite unfortunate. The whole situation seems to be getting w0rse each day. The w0rst part is that the army and the FRSC have also joined in the extortion. The army together with the police will stop commercial vehicles, and if you are a young man with wavy hair, they will take you aside to search your phone. This usually happens along the road between Okigwe and Umuahia.

It's a bit crude. We can employ technology like making video recordings necessary part of interactions, duty police having to wear compulsory body cam, making e-payment compulsory, etc. They'd as usual frustrate the process but it's better in the long run if consistent. Let there be central supervision of body cam videos by multiple agencies and stakeholders. That's also job creation in a sense. i tell you, humans fear the unknown eye that might be watching them than they fear God.

I hope you understand that the senior officer is not against extortion but prefer he takes them to office for the real one.

Is it better to drop #200 at road or #200 000 at office? Reason it. sad

If the official fine is not cash but epayment to a publicly known government account, it'd reduce. Because the fine will have description and will be standard state wide or nation wide. Unfortunately, Nigerians love shortcuts themselves.

This is the ONLY way to stop POLICE corruption.

- Supervisors must drive in unmarked vehicles.
- Record their boys
- Open a thread where videos can be posted by citizens
- Then give warnings, demotions and removal based on number of times caught. -- 1st warning, 2nd warning, (Demotion), Last warning, Expulsion. grin grin grin grin

Lol....the leaders will always take a higher percentage of the blame because they're in the position to enforce a stop to it and lead by example but they're showcasing their corruptive abilities.....in as much as people should tell themselves the truth, blaming the leaders who can make a change but refused to is never out of line.

Because the Ogas at the top are not appointed on merit but on the basis of loyalty so the gravy train runs on and on and on.

Do you know that police Chiefs in some other country states and councils/counties are elected. They stand for office so they come to office with a mandate having gone through public scrutiny so they have no option but to perform just like other political office holders.

They cannot hide behind the governor nor the President to perpetuate wrongdoing or project mediocrity.
