Video circulating online shows the House of Reps Member cruising into National Assembly in luxury Xpeng EV

From "Missing Funds" Crusader to Luxury EV Owner — Nigerians Demand Answers

Barely two weeks after Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh became a national hero for exposing ₦1.15 trillion in undisbursed capital funds and forcing the removal of the Minister of State for Finance by President Tinubu, the Abia lawmaker has been spotted driving into the National Assembly in a brand new Xpeng electric vehicle reportedly worth over N160 million.

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows "Onyeocha na Aba" cruising into the Assembly complex in the sleek luxury EV—just days after he made headlines for declaring "misappropriation of funds is a crime."

Nigerians are asking the same question he asked the Finance Minister:

Where did the money come from?

The Xpeng is not an ordinary vehicle. It's a luxury electric SUV—a statement of status and wealth.

For a man who built his brand on being a "champion of the common man" fighting for the nation's neglected projects, the optics are disastrous.

What's your take?

All these politicians are thieves, none is a saint. None is concerned about our welfare.

my people are groaning in pains due to hardship, but these thieves don't care. Since yesterday, I've being unable to refill a kg of gas to enable me cook. You can't even get firewood for free.

Tinubu is the biggest thief among them, seeing that he has 53% federation account to himself and has failed woefully in governance just like his Lagos master plan is a big failure.
Re: Ikwechegh Spotted In N160m Car, Days After Exposing ₦1.15T "Missing" Funds by Mrchippychappy(m): 8:26am On Mar 22
why is the "missing" in quotes? The funds were actually missing and he exposed it, does that make him bad?

If you have proof that he stole the money to buy his car, then go ahead and expose him and call the EFCC on him. I have never seen a group of people like Nigerians. Politicians are strangling you with corruption, someone exposed it and due to ethno-political affiliations and blind loyalty, you turn that person who exposed the corruption to your enemy. I made a post some days ago and I stand by it

Mrchippychappy:
Crazy thing is she was speaking for the good of everyone and still some of them wanted to fight her. I don wash hand comot for certain Nigerians and their issues. When I see something happen, I go stretch neck , read the news and after that, face front and mind my business.
I have NEVER seen a group like Nigerians. Starving to death but still playing tribal politics, "Yes, let me starve, at least na my brother dey starve me"...Brother wey no even know sey una exist. Tufiakwa.

Even as America is divided across political lines, Politicians like MTG, Fetterman and news reporters like Tucker Carlson can still speak on behalf of the people and you would have Republicans and Democrats sometimes agreeing with these controversial figures, In Nigeria? Fire go catch house, person go run come tell una sey fire don catch house, Nigerians go first check the tribe of the person telling them that the house is on fire. Wonderful!

Ethnic politics has consumed the brain of the average Nigerian. There's no saving some people.

₦160m is chicken change for any member of the National Assembly.

Once you’re inaugurated, banks practically line up to offer you loans.

As far back as 2016, when I was still in banking, members of the House of Representatives were offered about ₦120m, while senators could access up to ₦200m.

That was nearly a decade ago. By now, I’m certain those figures have been revised upwards—likely in the range of ₦300m to ₦500m.

And let's not forget, the man wasn't poor before he became a member of the National Assembly...

PS
Remember Alibaba once broke down the cost associated with running for political offices in Nigeria:

Senatorial Seat: ₦1.2 billion – ₦2 billion.
House of Representatives: Approximately ₦1 billion.
State House of Assembly: Approximately ₦500 million.

Governorship: Depends on the state, with estimations of ₦20 billion to ₦25 billion (specifically citing Delta and Rivers states).

Northern States Governorship: Approximately ₦4 billion to ₦6 billion.

Toh!

Nigerians are some of the most myopic people I think I've ever seen on the face of the earth.

N160m car is what the uproar is about? Was he an absolute pauper before getting elected?

OK, let's assume he is. Everyone of them gets funds for vehicles once they resume office. Have you thought maybe that's how he bought it?

God punish poverty.

So he doesn't have the rights to enjoy the good things of life anymore because he asked for accountability? This is nothing but poverty mentality the man has every moral rights to drive any expensive car of his choice as long as the sources of the funds used in buying the cars are very legit.
