you seems not to know much about Intellectual Properties and the possible thefts around it. Your work can be worth 100 million dollars and someone will twist your hand and pay you 500,000 Naira based on your knowledge. Remember the case of Jacob vs Laban, his uncle who underpaid him and cheated him by keeping underpaying him. Read up the case between King Sunny Ade and the first record label that signed him
but papa ajasco was the intellectual property of wale adenuga not the actors own

intellectual property goes beyond the script, the performer is very strategic too. Most times the issue is ignorance, poverty and the need to survive that make many settle for less. Most Nigerian Entrepreneurs and Capitalist are weak in terms of being social so instead of paying the person raking in the money what they decide the look it at from a salary approach. It's quite appalling

Exactly, industry standard. WAP is an industry, you don't tell them how to run their industry, if you feel cheated you can try a re-bargain or you f**k off their industry.
I see the man as the cause of his blah blah blah.....he isn't smart, he thinks a consistent hardwork still pays in modern age. He should had learnt to be a diversified portfolio, WAP didn't stop him from entertainment aside WAP.....but the deal is don't use our initial ‘Papa Ajasco’. What is there? See Akpan and Oduma and others are making cool money aside WAP using different names. Why's this old man crying for not being smart?? He should rest jare.
.

WAP is not an industry, instead it is a firm in the Entertainment industry and every industry has labour standards. The fact is that what is happening across board is what you call Extreme Capitalism, milk the cow extremely and give him very little food just to stay alive for more milking. There is no industry that doesn't exist, remember the case of Dangote and his Staff last year. At the end of last year his competitor Rabiu Abdul Samad invited him to their staff appreciation event where they doll out 30 Billion Naira to their staff. There is nothing like being entitled if you have given your best to a work.

I believe papa Ajasco, employers always have ways of exploiting employees and still expect them to be loyal to the core for the pin nut salary

While you are right about your stance , intellectual property isn't limited to the person who wrote, copyright something or trademarked it. The performers too have their portions in it so they can have royalties, profit sharing from it based on agreement. Take for instance, The popular James Bond and the various actors. The challenge the man has is that Civil Service has bastardised his mind that he could only see peanuts from the deal, he is supposed to request for an agreement for royalties or profit sharing being the main actor but usually what you are ignorant of is bigger than you. So pathetic, the lesson we should learn is before agreeing to terms, have knowledge or get someone to help you with clarity so you can have better negotiations

You know... Sometimes they even say because they entertained us on the TV, we owe them care and love. I have heard this a number of times from mostly these older artistes. Nobody owes you anything because you are an entertainer, we all have our different roles in life too. Older Doctors should also come out because they attended to our health in the past, Retired Police grin can also come because they offered "security/extortions" in the past, Our teachers can also come out because they taught us in the past.
Noone is stopping anyone from asking for help where necessary but it should never be made to look like a must-pay-back thing.
You sound inhumane
