There’s something to be said for anyone who doesn’t have any vested interest in a particular issue spending their lifetime on the internet discussing said issue.

First rule of safety; beware the unusual element. And this is very unusual.

I think anyone with common sense would be puzzled if I spent my whole day on the internet day after day discussing the politics of South Africa.

Surah An-Nisa (4:34):

"Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more (strength) than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard. In fact I am rather amused. You might as well argue that religious people do not steal because their holy book says thou shalt not steal, or that they love their neighbours because their holy book says must love your neighbour.

The fact is that is what the Quran teaches and rather than pick a few enlightened people from the western world as your sample size you should be concerned about the millions in backward places in the Middle-East and elsewhere who take such teachings to heart. Why do you think there has been rabid gender apartheid in places like Saudi Arabia and Iran and even in the north of Nigeria till today?
