The merits of CNG on this jobs can never be downplayed. I use a CNG installed Honda Accord 05, 2.4L and it's been 13 months and I can tell you for free (not free) that it's the best thing for me after drinking water.

I can't even remember when last I lament about price or what have you. Again, if you think protest will do the magic with these apps company I will tell you from experience protest has never helped drivers in this hustle. Since 2023 drivers has been calling for these protest but nothing to really show. I think the way forward is to take the agitations to these companies,. Ensure they don't operate while you protest, not the shambolic display of going to Alausa to dance and gyrate.
The truth is CNG is an added advantage not the standard. The Standard is still 4 plug petrol vehicles of not more than 2.4litre engines.
You bought a car and still invested 500k to 1m for CNG installation on the car. Therefore, u have to enjoy the benefit of that investment installation not struggling to make ends meet ontop ur upgrade/extra expenses again.

Secondly, not all vehicles can carry the CNG. So if d ehailing companies want to make CNG the standard let them say so, so that we all know in other to do this business we have to install CNG so d car can pass inspection.
It will be unfair to fix prices based on CNG or refuse to increase the prices because it's fuel that is going up and not gas.

💭 Imagine if we had one voice.

Even the strongest groups, even the greatest people, can be exploited when scattered. That’s exactly what’s happening to us.

We own the cars, pay for fuel and maintenance, and generate the revenue — yet Bolt/Uber takes 25% commission, overcharges passengers on one side, and underpays us in the other. As it is, scattered, all we have is urgent 2k in our pockets, and even that is slipping away by the day.

If we spoke as one, it would be like a billionaire speaking — unstoppable, respected, impossible to ignore. Our collective value runs into billions, not just from what we generate monthly, but also the cost of the assets we own.

This is why we need to band together. We’re not trying to force their hand — we want to understand their perspective as they should understand ours and use that to create a truly equitable platform.

I’m not here to talk long. I’m looking for 1000 equal partners in this journey to fairness — those willing to stand together, set aside differences, and collect our money back.

There’s nothing wrong with being a driver and being financially secure. We generate the value, we own the assets, and we deserve a platform that reflects that.

💡 You can have excuses — “my engine is 0.8L,” “my car is EV,” or trying to work out individual solutions — but selfishness keeps us slaving forever besides, think about your brotherman that can’t afford it eg, me). This doesn’t require anything except lending your voice.

One voice. One cause. Real power.

Cng will never get to the same price as fuel. The market markets will ensure that besides cost of production for cng is lower than other derivatives hence the cheap price. So zero ur mind it won't be as high as fuel NEVER. Nigeria used to waste d gas to get to their main crude. It's cheaper to produce and lighter to transport

I agree that prices are extremely low and to show my disagreement my protest of switching off my AC for useless prices. I also joined in d strike but how many drivers are willing to pay d price. Ordinary 3 days strike how many people did it. How many people will want to march to their office.

Honestly a business will continue to thrive as long as people r making money in it. Cng and small engine cars are cashing out and anyone that wants to continue in this business must adapt else u can create ur own app. It's d hard truth. The apps don't send anyone. If u r to send urself then adapt but complaining won't solve d issh on ground.
never say never oo but this is not to say make everybody no convert at this stage ooo but remember the raw material for this cng na lng and you know how much those gas station dey depense am?.....almost 1500. So it might be this government that is intentionally keeping it down because that's one of there achievement. Anyway sha make everybody convert to cng make all of us kuku continue accepting the rubbish prices till it becomes unsustainable for cng too then we start looking for another alternative. We die here grin grin grin

Also a clue for some people if you don't have too much money for the cng. You can look for some of this yellow buses that got it free of charge who wants to dekit there vehicle to sell it to you cheaply

Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by OAKSFIVEFARMS: 10:11pm On Mar 24
One challenge with companies like this is that they cannot independently adjust pricing. In Nigeria, the Country Manager has to escalate requests to the Africa Manager, who then takes it to HQ — and a decision may take a long time, if it happens at all.

Before it sounds like I’m defending them, my corporate experience has given me some insight into how their operations work. With this petition, our goal is to reach out directly to HQ, keeping their Nigerian office informed. This way, we force them to address our concerns and get faster, more effective resolutions.

Yes you are right if we at nairaland can dialogue to not work for like a week, the few riders on the road can serve users then it affects bolt indrive and others they will strategies and riders will end up having amazing offers and benefits from them
Pearl1910:
There are more drivers that don't belong to any group than all the drivers on nairaland and all d WhatsApp groups combined. So even if all d drivers in groups and niaraland comply to strike, there will still be driver on d road that arent aware.
The solution is for the few that can be ralied together to take this grievances to the app companies. Definitely not everybody can fight but let there be a fight even if it's from a few
Your offline trips can't come everyday

You make me laugh. You still think any of the app care about what's standard? Look ahead my friend, if you like strike from now till 2029, people will still be on the road and your demands won't be met even if they're met, a CNG powered car will still benefit more. And I can't remember where I told you I struggle to make earns meet untop my upgrade/expense.

It is common knowledge, these app companies no send anybody, if you like no look for a way around it. Indrive now has partner Pi-cng to run CNG conversion for willing drivers, so na such company you dey strike for?

Well to each on his own.

Go hard or go home!

Yes some actually dekit. I'm a technician at CGC liquified station, we actually get a handful of bus drivers who wants to dekit

1. Because the bus isn't theirs and the owner might want their bus back
2. The need money to do one or two
3. They actually do not need it as their engine is between 1.0-1.4L (Korope)
4. Availability of CNG refill station on their preferred routes.

So yes we dekit them and reinstall. Its a win win for all parties.

grin bros indrive is better for me. I control price and esp where I want to go. Actually with these higher commissions of Uber is one really earning higher. Their wait time sef dey worry even on d Island.

Indrive is best if u plan well and r patient. Actually if u want to keep it moving and have a high target from 50k above as u mentioned then u MUST need indrive grin.

That app is a gift and a curse grin.

My daily target is 50k and above and I use indrive grin
50k Gross target is very low. Reason I said no high earning driver praises Indrive.
So after fuel and commission u are probably left with 20k. Like u said its d best for u.
U don't control jack, they give u d options to choose from. Bolt Comfort is better than Indrive and when there is surge, u can't even compare.

If u know d story of ehailing in Abuja, Benin, Owerri, Ibadan, PH etc u will not say the business will continue to thrive. If this continues, there will be fewer cars on d road, fewer trips on d app and lesser commission. Ultimately everything will crash due to poor service delivery.

Also just know the gas will go up systematically. Cooking gas was 4k for 12.5kg around 2021, Today it's 15k. So if u are banking on CNG remaining low u aren't being realistic. The more people that use it, d more demand, d high the price will go.
It will still be cheaper than fuel overall but that advantage will not be wide again.
Is fuel and diesel not same price as we speak?

Talk from now till tomorrow, indrive wins, but it rewards patience. Whatever you feel bolt comfort gives, bolt takes most. I can make 60k a day after fuel if i choose to, my back no go gree me.... Now if you could do that on bolt, after bolt commission, you'll almost be at half of that bro. If both of us earned 100k on both platforms, we're far for equal... I need to earn 70 or 65 b4 we compare.

Lol i wish so, but unfortunately it won't work like that cus it's an endless loop.... People leave, few driver = surge(better price)... Those who left start hearing snd seeing prices are better, they all come back, we're back to square 1.

Most times they already have whom they want to sell it to and install. Ours is to dekit and reinstall for our price. Secondly they come, dekit and sell to us which we reinstall for client available.

PS. Because it was dekitted no mean say e go come cheap o. Except you and the bus person don agree una price then una pay us our money for dekitting and installation. As we speak, I have dekitted complete 65L Mijo kit for 600k installation inclusive.

Alaye u assume alot. This is fine for me for now with the present realities. Besides I used 20k fuel to achieve that and I still have some fuel. Before this increase I use 20k to make about 65k-70k but now not using AC I still acheive 60k grin

My pattern has changed but my profit remains d same mate. U really should wake up and smell the roses. Things have changed and if I r not willing to adapt u will expire.
