1. First reason , it gives a sense of equality to the south east

2. It increase the southeast population; politics and national allocation is a number based scheme

the issue is 6th state, if south east want 6th state, all they have to do is to carve it out of their already existing 5 states, to think that south south will fold its hands while they take from its land and give to south east is just an imagination, Akpabio is only playing to the gallery and knew it can never happen.

Geopolitical zones are not recognised by the constitution and it is unfortunate that some elements in Anioma dont remember this. They are now sabotaging the creation of Anioma State over it is in the South South or South East that unconstitutional. Well since they have adopted that foolishness, the answer will be Anim State.

Don’t waste your time—no new state is going to be created in Nigeria anytime soon. In fact, it’s far more likely that the country moves toward regionalization than expands the number of states. Politicians should focus on realistic, strategic goals, not chase after impractical ideas like this Ekuke proposal.

of course the bold is fasle. Delta state state government has invested more in warri than Asaba the capital. The estates, malls, hotels, nollywood etc that made Asaba are private investment mainly from Igbos across the niger.
