I thought it was Fernandez that was there
ChrisKels:
Nwaiwu's reaction for that Iran goal was poor.

Once again, he caused another goal but saved by the whistle

First cap New Defenders, Nwaiwu & Fernandez gave decent game..not minding the little mistake here and there, I will rate their performance a good 5/10. Compare this to Fedrick Benjamin outstanding first game against Jamaica which is at a Solid 8.5/10.

Full-time: 🇮🇷 Iran [1]–[2] Nigeria 🇳🇬

Thoughts:
- Eric Chelle is Nigeria's best coach since Stephen Keshi
- Eric Chelle is yet to lose a match in regulation time since he became manager of the Super Eagles.
- Maduka Okoye wasn't tested much today but he seems confident and ready to represent. Welcome back.
- The new centre-backs were jittery and caused the only goal we conceded, but I hope they grow in confidence.
- Ademola Lookman was phenomenal today.
- Alex Iwobi is still the best passer of the ball in Africa and in the Premier League.
- We can go face Jordan with boosted confidence three days from now.
- The Super Eagles are back!

The jersey is good. It's the reflection of the sun that makes it somehow. You will appreciate it when they use it in evening games at night.

That shirt still belongs to Benjamin
That guy blew everyone away

Ogbu, Fernandez and Nwaiwu are good back ups though
All 3 are behind Ajayi still

FT Iran 1-2 Nigeria: Super Eagles win, no stress
🏟Antalya

Moses Simon Goal (Assist🅰️ Samuel Chukwueze)
Akor Adams Goal (Assist🅰️ Ademola Lookman)

Good win. Fine for our FIFA Rank. Nigeria were comfortable for the most parts. We only came under pressure in the moments when our defence were adjusting to the synergy changes.

Chibuike Nwaiwu had a mixed game. Good on the ball, strong in duels but caught ball watching one or 2 times which is something Chidozie Awaziem is frequently guilty of in the GWG. Let's put it down to first game jitters. He started well when he came on but then became jittery at some point. Welcome to the Super Eagles.

Emmanuel Fernandez... he did not disappoint with his height. Won almost all aerial battles and was very composed in possession. Lost Taremi for the goal though.

Maduka Okoye... Decent return. Did not have much to do really and his ball distribution in the latter part of the second half was beautiful to watch. Found Bruno and even Onuachu (I think) with sumptuous long balls.
He deserved a cleansheet. Too bad the defensive structure caved in due to the CB Changes that was still adjusting which Iran took due advantage of.

Ademola Lookman worked so hard today. Leave his assist and offensive forays aside. He was nearly everywhere. He tracked back. He pressed. He really led in Osimhen's absence. I must commend his industry today.

Wilfred Ndidi don become inevitably consistent for that middle. He was as immaculate in his role as sunrise in the morning.

Alex Iwobi held the middle game well with Ndidi. He hardly left gear 1 yet it was enough to execute this game vs WC-bound Iran.

Akor Adams took his goal well. Led the lines well alongside Lookman.

Semi Ajayi and Igho Ogbu... Rocksolid duo. Nothing got past them and it was an easy cleansheet had they finished the game. But Chelle was right to test the others.

Bright and Bruno.... The Double B of our defensive flanks did not even enter gear 2 today yet their gear 1 form was enough to deliver a solid outing. Ola Aina has a battle on his hands with Bright while Bruno still surely looks like keeping his place ahead of Zaidu.

Moses Simon.... He did well combining his role of venturing forward and supporting the middle flankwise. Took his goal beautifully. Well done.

Samuel Chukwueze... Operated well through the middle and across the final third, acting as the third wheel of the midfield and linking up with Lookman. He made good decisions on the ball that got us forward and kept our transition game glowing.

Chidera Ejuke.... Did not do much really but managed to keep up our intensity flankwise.

Paul Onuachu... Fouled severally and held up play at times to bring others in. He got about okay but hardly had a sight of goal.

Fisayo DB.... Strong lad. Hard to rob off the ball. Held his own in midfield especially on the right side and helped us rotate possession nicely.

Frank Onyeka... He came in on 90mins or so but had one mission.... to lock up shop for good and cast the keys into the sea. That he did. Lol

Nice game Eric Chelle... The 442/4312 Diamond would have caused mayhem at this world cup but unfortunately we no dey go. We go still watch Iran wey we just beat. grin

Next up Jordan.

Fernandez will bench Ogbu and even Ajayi. He has a very high ceilings in the transfer market right now and if he makes a big move, it will only becoming a short time before he becomes our CB after Bassey and Fredrick. Don't forget he is also a high scoring CB

Excellent ratings Doc..
That Lookman's industry today is what Diego Simeone has been trying to coax out of him..
How Chelle has managed to do it is worth studying..

We have to keep Chelle..
These players are clearly playing better with him in charge

Nonetheless I kinda thought he shouldn't have replaced the 2 CBs but left one to serve as a guide for the newcomer CB. I believe he had his reasons though..

We take the win
Jordan will be blown off the pitch on Tuesday

Is it transfer market ceiling that determines our starters?
