Whilst slavery had existed before/prior to the transatlantic system, the transatlantic system enhanced it to become a grounded highly racialised conduit for slaves. Additionally its exploitation was carried out on an industrial scale.

The sellers are the ones who destroyed families and separated families

Slavery was cruel ,many died but those figures pale in comparison to the wanton slaughter of innocents in the medieval and as late as the 20th century warfare.
