I don't know about you guys but I traveled to Port Harcourt for a week's conference, where I'm currently staying in Port Harcourt they are having light constantly, about 23 hrs a day non stop, if there's power outage within one hour the light would be restored. And I keep wondering is it the same national grid or another grid.. it's a place called Rumuibekwe or something.. Omo their light no get part 2, my friend said that it's how their light has always been since she moved to Port Harcourt 2018 |

People who support Tinubu are they doing that on personal gains or for the Love they have for Nigeria. Tinubu is that type of Manager you should never hand over your Company to. |

SeeWahala:Now that Adelabu Pẹnkẹlẹmẹs has confirmed that All Promises Cancelled, APC gave us adequate electricity as Fashola bragged about before we allowed them replace PDP with their change mandate 11 years ago, will you vote city boy next year? adenigga:It has never been this bad in the history of Nigeria. Adelabu should be called the Minister of Darkness!!! And the funniest thing is that the same country in darkness is laying pipes to get to Europe so as to sell gas and earn Forex. But to lay pipes successfully to our gas turbines and generate electricity for Nigerians seems impossible for them. Quite pathetic and appalling!!! Very disdainful Minister! And the same man wants to be the Governor of Oyo State... I pity them if they allow him. How can a country without power be industrialized? How can youths gain employment in a country that is not industrialized? A nation without Power is a Powerless nation, it is indeed a Country of Particular Concern!!! |

Yep Tinubu supporters should hide their heads in shame The fact is, Tinubu should have removed subsides on power since May 2023. By now we would have had more investment pouring into the power sector and better power supply. But the problem is leaders take decisions in this country that would get them elected. Not decisions that would leave a legacy for tomorrow. The decision to retain power subsides and to refuse private companies like the discos to set a price for power is why we are where we are. Tinubu supporters will come and tell me now that we should wait till his second term. And then assuming second term comes dem.go say that he has to protect the succession of the party which is why he cannot remove power subsides. Cost reflective tarrifs |
| Re: Power Outage Bites Harder by nairalanda1(m): 6:27am On Mar 28 |
The power subsidy problem shows how alike Nigerian leaders are. GEJ started the issue when in privatising power he forced the companies to allow government set their prices. Buhari came in and continued the good decsion of GEJ and now Tinubu is continuing it. And the power sector is benefiting so much that debts accumulated to the gas companies may be well above ten trillion naira , since 2014. Government also owes six trillion in subsides. The gas companies have naturally had enough. People don't realise it but decisions made to help the poor often times end up harming the poor. Subsides on power , present since the 70s and still present today are a good example. Cost reflective tarrifs |

The situation in Abuja is very pathetic...the Nation capital for that matter. AEDC has now resorted to giving power during off-peak hours(1am-4.30am). 13years after power privatisation we are still talking about the same old story. Too bad! And the idiot that calls himself power minister is giving stupid promises. |
| Re: Power Outage Bites Harder by DaGC(m): 7:08am On Mar 28 |
The situation is not improving. It's sad. I was expecting improvements in line with the 2 weeks promise, but so far, NOTHING. Worse part, heat no know say power no dey available.😔 |

| Re: Power Outage Bites Harder by SeizeTheMemes: 8:02am On Mar 28 |
Miramonica:Privatisation was never the solution. If anything it made it worse as it removed cohesion and made the end goal whatever profit these power companies can get from your pocket without even giving any electricity. |
| Re: Power Outage Bites Harder by eepeepook: 8:19am On Mar 28*. Modified: 3:09pm On Mar 28 |
Nigeria will never see constant electricity in the next thirty years. This is not a curse, more of an observation. What will happen is more people will go off-grid due to solar equipment and batteries getting cheaper. The ones left may experience efficient service but not constant. |

sweerychick:Ask them how much they are paying for that particular area?? As im chating with u drs light here at gbaremu market bt d environs is black out…. Dy pays huge money and its for shop alone…. In wasiu ayinde voice in one of his song for honourable fijabi Olowo lon tan ina ( like d light is for d rich now) dts wat brought about band A and all…. So generally light na zero… |
| Re: Power Outage Bites Harder by nairalanda1(m): 8:30am On Mar 28 |
SeizeTheMemes:Privatisiation is not working because the government forces them to charge tarrifs that make them lose money and then at the same time, don't pay them the subsides that cover for the loss That's why they can't give you light or even do simple things like pay for the gas for the power stations. And it has been happening for decades. You cannot run a company where government price setting forces you to work at a loss. |

Abdulganiyu Alabi, a resident of Kurmin Mashi in Kano, said electricity supply in his area remains grossly inadequate despite being classified under Band A. Op...Kurmin Mashi is in Kaduna not in Kano. That was my area then. |
