Jordan is beating Costa Rica 2-0, not a bad team, we should have a good game against them.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 8:12pm On Mar 27
Our next opponents, Jordan beating Costa Rica 2-0 in a friendly

Recall they were finalist of the 2024 AFC Asian Cup losing to Qatar in the final after knocking out Son's South Korea.

They also finished 2nd in the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup losing to Morocco.

Iran also reached the semis of the Asian Cup in 2024 but Qatar stopped them.

They will give us a nice challenge but dem still no reach.

I remember Osayi was nonsense prior to the afcon but bobo pick form in the competition proper and since then hv been solid in the team

Ghana ehn. Na semenyo at Man City and Kudus at Spurs dey make them delusional. To be fair though, Austria is ranked 48 places above Ghana in the FIFA ranking.

Austria - #24
Ghana - #72

So Ghana no play their "level" grin

But then, even Iran (ranked #20) high pass Austria wey knack them 5-1. Double tueh!

Papi85:
na so those ones dey always lose like mumu against european, Asian and South American teams 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Anytime u hear say Ghana wan play friendly the result u go see after the match go mk u shake head for few seconds

I would love Chelle as a coach to have plan b tactics wise to games because in the teams current style of play once you cut off/disrupt Iwobi’s link up forward passes it’s finished for the team

Exactly how Morocco managed to nullify the team at the last Afcon. I would want another system where the team doesn’t really hv to rely on Iwobi’s sharp link up passes

it’s very easy to frustrate the team to be honest. Shut out Iwobi and his passing channels and it’s finished. Na exactly wetin Morocco do us for last Afcon

Chelle really need to scout for more midfielders

It does in football.
We can't have a Fernandez playing regularly for Bayern Munich and because Fredrick playing for Dender seem better than him, Fernandez will always be on the bench. Because of him the SE coach can change his formation to 3 defence to accommodate all of them
Reason why Westerhoff remain my favorite coach...what you bring to eagles is the determinant... Benjamin Frederick is a starter anyday, Ekong saw Frederick and say bye bye...

Folks like Charles here still dont understand how good a young CB has to be to bench an Afcon MVP-level CB. I shake my head honestly.

Benjy was preferred ahead of Osayi, same beast we saw at Afcon 2025.

Benjy benched Ekong. Afcon MVP at the 2023 tournament held in 2024.

Benjy was always the best CB on display when paired with even Calvin Bassey. I mean everytime!!

Benjy was also the best defender on show vs DRC in that WCQs playoff final.

Na this Knee Injury I blame. He will be back. I have missed his instinctual CB plays and his intelligence to drive forward to create other angles of linkup plays. With Benjy at CB, folks dont realise that Iwobi wont be our only linkup beast.

Charles speak of options to Iwobi but does not understand that one of the answers is in having an intelligent CB-libero like Benjy.

Most of you might not know this, but there was a young kid named Famous Umole (I believe he is 17 yrs old) on the bench today vs Iran, he must have been called up as a late replacement (not sure if he was an NFF or Chelle call up) but he's supposed to be an exciting prospect from our youth system. Does anyone know anything about this kid?

Ekong was never a reliable defender for the SE, to me he was just opportune and he sometimes only plays well at tournaments when playing 3 defence

Famous Umole is an academy player who featured for Nigeria at the last Wafu B U17 qualifiers. He scored against Burkina faso and I dont know how he made it to Turkey.
