Did Ejide not put Enyeama on the bench in 2008? Afcon history is relevant to both in this GK context.

Nwabali of Chippa got named Super Eagles #1 ahead of WC-hardened Uzoho and Udinese GK, Maduka Okoye. Why did a Chippa GK bench a GK who has shone in Holland's Eredivisie before moving to Italy's Serie A? Why did he bench an Uzoho who has kept goal at a World Cup? The fact that Nwabali did not need any major form of acclimitization (just one pre-afcon friendly played vs Guinea) with the team before Afcon 2023 yet still delivered top performances, and cleansheets leading us to the final shows his quality and he has indeed earned his stripes.

Afcon history proves the quality of both Enyeama and Nwabali as 2 of our most reliable GKs.

Different eras yet these two stand out as dominants.

My point, if you are to ask most SE fans their top 3 GK Nwabali won't feature in majority. Many might even rate the Enyeama-Ejide-Ayenugba above the Nwabali-Okoye-Uzoho

When it comes to manning the post, Nwabali is better than Ejide and Ayenugba. When it comes to saving penalties, statistically Nwabali might even be better than Ayenugba.
Nwabali problem is that he tries to over do things, instead of keeping things simple and because he was playing in SA.

These 4 names precedes Nwabali so Ofcos Nwabali may not feature in Top 3 Naija GKs all time for some. But he certainly does for me especially as his 2 Afcon tournament appearances have culminated in a silver medal finish and a semis finish. Plus he has come up Clutch in penalty shootouts again and again. Only Enyeama outshines him in Afcon cleansheets. I dont think you understand the weight of that info.


Finally rating a GK Trio above another does not reflect individual ratings. Enyeama, Ejide, Aiyenugba looks stronger as a trio compared to the current trio or the Ikeme-Ezenwa-Akpeyi trio but individually, Nwabali easily displaces Aiyenugba and Ejide in the Super Eagles. His reliability factor trumps theirs by a large gap.
