I was explaining to basilico earlier that sports is very different. There are cultural and environmental influences that make some tribes better at some sports.

For example Brazil and football, Kenya and marathons. It also will not be surprising that people who live around water may be better swimmers etc.

These factors tend to disappear with areas of studied technical expertise.

The thing about sports is that because of the variety in sports, there is a balance.

Black people in Basketball? Balanced by whites in hockey and baseball. Asians in gymnastics? Hispanics in soccer?

Furthermore, the barriers to sports is different to those in Education. The barriers to sports is money- can your parents afford the equipment and training.

In education, there is a systematic history and structural disenfranchisement to the barriers. In education, redlining, public school defending and racism of low expectations hurt the chances of many hood children (of many races but especially blacks)


But you can't change the topic- how is a pilot unqualified?

NBA, Sprints that is not life critical, you insist on only the best you never say it must be 20% Chinese, 30% Hispanic. 100yrs ago these fields were all whites but Black people didnt need quotas they smashed it. Serena and Venus and Coco Gauff do not need quotas to become the best in a majority white field, same with Ben Carson

Actually you wont mind if an American Basketball team be 100% black, American table tennis team be 100% Chinese and American fencing team be 100% white etc

So the question is not whether standards were removed, but whether selection into the pipeline was being influenced by race/sex rather than pure merit. You cannot run from this.

community slots are not professional roles. They are most times positions for skilled and unskilled labor.

Professional roles are competitive and every single candidate (including host community persons) pass through the same stringent recruitment process.

Shell would never issue an offer letter to an unqualified human being because he or she is from the host community.

Historically, mostly men, and in many places mostly white men. my point, even if there is past imbalance, it does not make present discrimination okay. The proper fix is to expand opportunity and remove barriers, not to tilt selection by race or sex once people are competing for the same slot.
