I'm not surprised at all. Female children that were born in year 2000 are the ones dominating PTA affairs now. You'll see them wearing bum-short, strapless tops and leg chains to drop/pick their children in school.

A day to highlight excellency of kids in extra curricular activities turn to a fest of shameless adults that are low on SI and EI.

Some people are attention seekers; they look for every opportunity to show off. Don’t be surprised if these parents even have a WhatsApp group aimed at peppering other parents.

It’s an inter-house sports event, not a cultural day. If they truly want to take part, they should have been dressed in sportswear and competed among themselves after the children have had their day........I don't applaud nonsense.

For ordinary inter-house sport angry.

But when it'll come to PTA,these parents will be nowhere to be found.

We too love to dey celebrate frivolities for this country, while neglecting the things that really matters.

And you expect Tinubus and his cabals to believe we're hungry after seeing things like these angry
Make them no show them happiness again? Must you be bitter about everything? Does their outing have any negative effects on the election wey never hold? You can tell me you don't eat because of the present situation of the country na!!!

I won't blame them, they are stylishly telling the govt to set a day aside for their own traditional day. Ogun State has Lisabi Day while Ijebu òde has ojúde-ọba, calabar also has their own. I don't think ibadan has any.

Parents are living vicariously through their children and it is becoming a menace. It is a lack of identity, a lack of self worth and an abuse on the innocent child who is not allowed to enjoy their childhood or youth with proper adult supervision. Don't take the attention away from the child, let the freaking child play in their own world and environment. Na agbaya de steal the show of pikin, letting these kids face unnecessary humiliation the following week when they have to compare their parents. Damn it! Small time nau, these parents will enter the changing rooms of the kids and we will start complaining about Sexual Abuse. Eediots

The phone is not helping matters but when you see a lot of adult behaviour in Nigeria, you can tell that many of them have unhealed trauma. It's not just a Nigerian thing, I know, but I can tell you that parents today have spent more time condemning their own parents' style of parenting more than they have done in the actual work of parenting their kids. The phone has really revealed the children in us. There is a time and place for everything.
Try to be there for your children, parental support really matters in life.

Bill Gates and Paul Allen wouldnt have become billionaires if the mothers at Lakeside school didnt agree to get a computer for the school.

Try to be there is not a licence to try to be them! Let the children breathe and play please. Don't steal their show.

Parents taking the spotlight at a children's event.
Not good at all.

The focus should be on the performance of the kids while creating a fun filled atmosphere for them. Parents used to be simply dressed spectators cheering up the kids in the past.

Some modern parenting styles are baffling and creating problems for proper child development.

This is so nauseating. For ordinary inter-house sports?

Something that I struggle to attend at my children's school? It is what adults have taken over?

Schools are different.

Some schools don't create much room for parents to bond while others do.

That you think it's nauseating is very disturbing.

Captains of industry still make out time to attend school events to cheer their kids and others.

Don't mind them.

It's in Nigeria here or let's say it's an African thing that we don't pay attention to showing up for our kids in their school events, we think it's okay to hide under the guise of hustling and bustling to provide.
Oyinbos take school events seriously, soldiers will travel down to be in Karate Lessons, School Dramas, Fund Raiser events, Prom Nights etc. I work with children. Children love it when they see them show up. It motivates them to do more. In my school, we have Fruit Day, Colour Day, Career Day, Cultural Day, Carol Day, Fun Day many days, days that parents come to teach in the classrooms, we have events for the grandparents too and parents show up and show out.

I won't criticise these people o! Tori ọmọ la ṣe nṣiṣẹ. I can go all out for my kid, all out.
