There's a strong possibility we will have 3 teams domiciled in Lagos in the NPFL next season. All 3 teams are privately owned teams.

1. Ikorodu City: currently seats 3rd in NPFL table and could be one of Nigeria's representative on the continent.

2. Inter Lagos: they top the table of the NNL grouping and only needs a draw in the last game to seal their place to the NPFL next season.

3. Sporting Lagos: could make the long awaited return to the NPFL after 2 seasons at the NNL. The currently seat 2nd on their NNL grouping, one point behind group leaders Akwa United. They however have a game in hand, so they need to win their remaining 2 games to guarantee their return to the NPFL.

Should this be the outcome, we'll be seeing increasing number of privately run clubs in the NPFL which in my opinion is the way to go to see growth and progress in the Nigerian football ecosystem locally.

(Seriously hoping Remo Stars doesn't get relegated so we have at least 6 privately owned clubs in the NPFL next season)

Samuel Kalu Brace ⚽️⚽️ in Bulgaria's Topflight today for Botev Plovdiv in a 5-0 win.

19 y/o attacker, John Auta Goal for Teplice in a 2-2 draw away at Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Liga.

I believe Inter Lagos has made it to the NPFL. I don’t see them losing 8–0 in their final game.
NNL will be more competitive next season, with the number of groups reduced to two instead of the four they have this season.
I followed Sunshine to NNL, still, they didn't make it..

NOTE

Gateway 1 vs Sunshine 2
Edel 0 vs Heartland 0

These results are not yet reflected on the table

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by MetalJigsaw(m):
5 things The Super Eagles will lose by missing out on the World Cup.

1. The biggest world cup history:
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the largest in the competition’s history, with FIFA increasing the number of participating teams from 32 to 48.

While countries lower in football pedigree make the cut, Eg: Cape Verde, DR Congo and South Africa, Nigeria will be watching from home despite the large expansion of the tournament.

2. A share of the $727 million prize pool:
This year, FIFA is going all guns blazing with the biggest prize pool ever. A monstrous $727 million will be shared among the participants. This is historic.

Had Nigeria qualified, the NFF would have received $1.5 million for tournament preparation, plus a guaranteed $9 million just for participating in the group stage.

3. mastery of FIFA's new rules:
The 2026 World Cup will debut several radical rule changes. By missing out, Nigerian players lose the chance to adapt to these shifts in a competitive environment:

Substitutions: Players must exit the pitch within 10 seconds. Failure to do so results in their replacement waiting 1 minute before entering.

Restarts: Teams have only 5 seconds for throw-ins and goal kicks before forfeiting possession.

4. The opportunity to attract dual nationality players:
Absence from the world stage makes Nigeria a less attractive team for dual-nationality stars. The World Cup is often the primary motivation for players to switch allegiances.

Due to this absence, prospects like Carney Chukwuemeka, Honest Ahanor, Alessandro Marcandalli, and Noah Atubolu have opted for other nations. Even older targets like Tosin Adarabioyo remain hesitant. Without the lure of the World Cup, Nigeria would definitely struggle to win the tug-of-war for elite talent.

A freefall in FIFA ranking:
While Nigeria sits idle, other nations will be active and earning points, leading to a guaranteed drop for the Super Eagles in the FIFA rankings.

Although rankings don’t always reflect the strength of teams, they are important for tournament seeding. A lower ranking almost certainly guarantees a tougher draw for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and future tournament cycles.
