It is a lot more complex than that.

You cannot lawfully hold arms in this country without a permit - and the last time I checked, there is an embargo on that. Those villagers will be picked up swiftly if they arm themselves (although some of them will arm themselves for self preservation) . This sort of thing has happened many times before.

Whatever TY Danjuma's faults are (and no doubt, they are many), he publicly warned Nigerians about all this madness eight long years ago. This is a man who has forgotten more about army/security work (in Nigeria at least) than most Nigerians will ever know in their lifetimes. That alone gives him some credibility - and for him to publicly accuse the Nigerian armed forces of collusion with the murderers/killers - well, that says it all really.
