The guess is required for all sorts of strategic objectives and analysis, including the cost of war. Their best guess is 30% degradation.

But they don't know.

So if no one knows how long more Iran can keep this up, and the control the strait of Hormuz with an iron first, does it not make sense to call for a cease fire?

So, when the data was presented, it included the underground missile capacity.
In fact Iran has close to zero missiles above ground. They store all their missiles underground so the figures you are getting is from their underground capacity.

As of today, there is no missile storage site above ground in Iran.

Now, if you read the article it says

That's 67% not 30%.

The remaining 33% is what they have underground and most of their launching sites are no more so they can't even shoot rapidly even if they had more missiles.

As of the strait of Hormuz, this has only been a month plus and the US did not even attempt to take over the strait by fighting. They got Iran to agree to a ceasefire in order not to be bombed to the dark ages.

Educated guesses are important for close enough assessment of strategic objectives and necessary propaganda, because both sides need propaganda to gets their population siding with the war.
