And it was indeed tough. Okonkwo let in 5 goals as Wrexham fell 1-5 vs Southampton. He also committed an error that led to a goal. He had 4 saves though but a really bad day at the office for Arthur Okonkwo.
Doc,good that we have Nwabali and Okoye,I don't see Okonkwo giving them tough fight for number one position...fact Okonkwo have been watching is not better than Uzoho and Adeleye, the only minus in Adeleye is his height....as I said in one of my comment you quoted I just hope he improve like Okoye

That's the fact.I watched Wrexham pre season match live cuz of Okonkwo Arthur and was disappointed he messed up with two goals, purely his errors, always eager to watch him this season and yesterday again not happy about his performance...what is giving me hope is just his age and Maduka Okoye transformation, nothing more....big question can Arthur Okonkwo put up that Uzoho performance against Man Utd?NO...I don't rate Uzoho but I will not allow sentiment to judge my opinion on Okonkwo Arthur.

Noah Atubolu should be the man and I can bet it he will walk straight into eagles XI.

So after all the noise and fake links to Renard, Walid and Joachim Low, Ghana has settled for this list of 3....

Three final shortlist for the next Ghana Black Stars Head Coach:

— Fernando Santos 🇵🇹
— Carlos Queiroz 🇵🇹
— Paulo Bento 🇵🇹

All are Portuguese. Time will tell if sacking Addo was right or ill timed.

I agree that Noah Atubolu will give Nwabali and Okoye a huge fight for the Super Eagles #1 shirt and may even win. He is only 23 but already a very solid GK. Now imagine him at his peak or near it.
If the Germans keep ignoring the lad at senior level, then I sincerely hope we can bag him.

Okonkwo is a decent shotstopper on his day but it is true that his handling and overall btw-the-sticks coordination still needs work. He still needs to develop that "Presence" persona in goal. At 24, there is huge room for growth.

Glad we got Okonkwo to switch. We need more competition at GK. If he can find a decent club at Prem or Championship level, we can be set in that department for a while.

Tournament keeper is different than a keeper for the league.
There are some reports that his switch is not complete. Has everything been sorted out now?

As we all know, aside the Poland & Portugal Friendlies, we can indeed look forward to the Unity Cup.

We gave Benjamin Frederick a chance at this tourney. Who is the next rookie we gonna see?

Kayode, Noah, and even Nwaneri should be top priorities to be spoken to this summer especially if the latter two don't get chosen by their respective squads for the upcoming WC.

Rami Kaib, the Tunisian left back at Halmstads BK who came up vs Zadok had this to say...

Culled from Fotboll Direkt, sweden...

Rami Kaib had a tough day at work when he faced AIK's Zadok Yohanna.
Despite that, he says he has faced tougher opponents earlier in his career.
"I faced Antony when he played for Ajax – I had a much tougher time then," the full-back tells Expressen.

Last Sunday, AIK played their first match against Halmstads BK at Strawberry Arena – where Zadok Yohanna became the player on everyone's lips.

The 18-year-old Nigerian winger put in a magnificent performance and made Rami Kaib's day at work tough. He was already shown a yellow card in the 16th minute and the duels with Yohanna usually ended with the AIK player getting past him.

A couple of days after the premiere, which Yohanna decided with seven regular minutes left to play, Kaib understands why he was called.
"It was a tough match, everyone could probably see that. There were a lot of one-on-one situations against Yohanna who played a very good match," he tells Expressen.

However, he believes that the AIK talent is not the most difficult opponent he has faced.

"The thing is… I've faced better players to be honest, but he's a damn good player. When I faced Antony when he played in Ajax – I had a much tougher time, I can say," he says and laughs.

However, the fact that "Gnaget"'s attacking play would revolve a lot around Yohanna did not come as a shock to the 28-year-old.

"If there was anyone who would decide the match, it would be Yohanna or Bersant Celina. We had talked about that, that a lot of AIK's games revolve around them. And that's how it turned out , he concludes."

Nerdie's tots:

Just one of the many times ⚡️adok floored Kaib in one game alone ooo... lol

if he's not decent at 24 he shouldn't represent the SE since we have better options, if a gk isn't good at that age he's not elite

His younger brother Brian Okonkwo of West Brom U21 is also a top prospect for Nigeria in the goal keeping department. A very solid goalkeeper for his age.

Michael Kayode - In Progress⏳️ and I hope we succeed.

Noah Atubolu - Should be looked at keenly as Germany has already drawn out their GK roster for the WC. Oliver Baumann of Hoffenheim will he 1st choice. Nubel will be second choice and I am sure as hell 3rd spot goes to either Augsburg's GK or some other "Pure" German breed.
Atubolu was their 1st choice at last year's U21 euros where Germany reached the final finishing 2nd to England. Woltemade now at Newcastle played in thar tournament.
Atubolu's backups are now 1st choices at Hertha Berlin and Hannover both pushing for promotion up from Bundesliga 2 yet he keeps getting ignored by the Senior side... I hope it continues so he softens and give Nigeria a chance to bag him for good.

Ethan Nwaneri - Top Talented lad but the rise of Max Dowman at Arsenal in same roles as Nwaneri (both are CAMs/RWs) threatens his chances at both Arsenal and England's senior setup in the long run. Also, current lads like Cole Palmer (CAM, RW), Bukayo Saka (RW), Morgan Rogers (CAM, LW, RW) and ofcos the #1 CAM choice for England, Jude Bellingham makes it hard to see Ethan at this WC or even the next. I no even call Eberechi Eze... England is stacked man! And those names are all ages 22-24.

Ethan is 19 so how long will he wait? I hope we can bag him. Get Nwaneri and our CAM/Midfield creator role gets instantly upgraded and the options become really good for us tactically in a creative sense.

I would say the likes of Lesley Ugochukwu (Burnley), & Tim Iroegbunam (Everton) should be approached strongly as well while keeping eyes on rising ones like for instance, Julius Emefile at FCM in Denmark.

Unconfirmed reports have it that ,if fit, he will be in contention for selection at the Unity Cup in May.

2026 U17 Afcon Groups draw is done... ofcos we wont be there but the next phase of the U17 Prep for 2027 draws ever closer.

This U17 Afcon hosted by Morocco again qualifies a team for the U17 World Cup to be held later this year in Qatar again ofcos.

Nigeria's chance of a return to U17 Glory begins the next WafuB U17 Qualifiers. The NFF still have not appointed the coaches or began setting up camp for screening.
