Enugu State Is Building A Health Centre In Every Political Ward by Tabithatim(op): 5:20am On Apr 10
Governor Mbah is the first Nigerian governor to embark on the construction of brand new Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres in every political ward across the state. All the 260 PHCs are currently at various stages of completion, equipping, furnishing, and staffing.

Mbah inherited supposed healthcare facilities that had suffered decades of neglect and dilapidation. He could have taken the easy route of patching up and repainting structures that had long outlived their designed lifespan. But he chose the harder path of building modern, fit-for-purpose facilities that meet 21st-century standards, because Ndi Enugu deserve nothing less.
Tomorrow is here.

What we need is hospital not health center.

Build at least a standard hospital in each constituency within the state.

Mbah is headed for the Presidency! Not unlikely!! He is outshining Umahi who has become controversial lately. Soludo's offering is reactive. Peter Mbah is a proactive young and performing Igbo Governor. Very discreet. Power hugs The Discreet.

If they build hospitals in every ward, maintaining it will be a big challenge. The health centre he's building has a live-in facility for health workers

First what is a standard hospital ?

Second , how will you staff the hospital ?

Third, are you willing to pay the kind of fees and taxes needed for the upkeep of said hospitals? How will you find money for the staff therein?

Sometimes, I get shocked with what people say they want. Ask them to pay and they gaslight you with politicians have spoilt the country.

Majorly, Nigerians have very few regular ailments and if these centers can treat those ones, at least 75% will be nipped in the bud before it progresses into the "hospital" stage.

Good one, governor.

Why are you not interested in the existing PHCs?

What is wrong with renovating them and employing enough well paid professional healthcare workers to run them?

Is renovating things not better for an underdeveloped country of extreme poverty paupers with the highest number of children out of school?

By the way, how many teachers and other civil servants have been employed by Mbah? Has he employed as many as 19,500 teachers? This is the number employed by Makinde in just five years.

Exactly. Imagine citizens running from lab tests in a hospital... And eventually running away from treatment. But they can buy cars and flex themselves o

Let's see sha...

Rochas built general hospitals in all the local governments in Imo state. Today, they are either occupied by the homeless, or abodes for animals or overgrown by grasses or some rooms used by NYSC officials during camp (for the one sharing fence with NYSC camp)

On another note, if he's building primary health centres in all the political wards, does it mean Enugu State didn't have PHC in their wards before? Or is he renovating the existing ones?

Re: Enugu State Is Building A Health Centre In Every Political Ward by Reference(m): 7:30am On Apr 10
We love building things to symbolize governance on action, which is good. But what will make it very good like the creation of man by God is the 'breath of life's to make such facilities 'live', function and work enduringly. So that another government doesn't have to build them again in a while to come as it common in this part of the world.

While the rest of the world grows and develops by 'adding'. We always find ourselves restarting again and again.

So the good work is not complete until systems are put in place to make those centres work sustainable to deliver healthcare long into the future.

First I will like to congratulate Enugu people, Governor Mbah and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this great move.

I also will like to state that you are not totally right. One of the big issues we have in the health sector in Nigeria today is the collapse of primary health facilities. The result is that when someone have a slight headache, he visit a teaching hospital. The result is that the teaching hospitals are over crowded for the wrong reasons. So they can't deliver critical health services.
Infact, a lot of the health challenges people have now could have been taking care of at the primary level but because that level is almost not existing, it deteriorates and become a bigger health challenge.
Just carrying out the basics like taking blood pressure, temperature, sugar level etc will help uncover future health dangers. If majority of our people do these basics, it will help our health care greatly.
